Nothing is more evocative of summer than the beautiful aroma of flowers, and the favored flowers of brewers are hops. Our brand new summer ale, Fleur de Houblon (Hop Flowers), is brewed to bring the many elements of summer into a refreshing and easy-to-drink Belgian-style ale. Fleur de Houblon is a rich gold color with distinct floral hops in the aroma that follow through in the taste. Whole-cone Bravo hops are used to impart their earthy, fruity, and floral aromas and flavors. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with pleasing complexity and spicy notes from both primary and secondary fermentation with our unique Ommegang house yeast.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/foamy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly to moderately yeasty (basement), with notes of lemon rind, gum, pepper, alcohol (rather fusel, bug spray). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Quite good for this brewery. It has a fusel taint, unfortunately, but it’s not strong and it’s really the only notable fault I find with it. A little watery and thin, but suitable for easy-drinkin’. Brightly aromatic and not just a hop bomb (and the hops aren’t the raw-and-resinous type). Good balance as well.

From bottle into glass. Great lemony color with light lacing foam, nice light mouth feel with some fizz, citrusy taste with a little spice. Worth having a case available in the basement! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not sure how beers like this end up in th same category as orval, heheh. On tap at the bocktown, nice place. Rather clear with a decent bubbly pond scum head. Typical beldgy aroma. Quite strong initially but mellows as the session continues. Yes the alky impact fades rapidly. Becomes medium mild Never gets really well behaved. Keeps some of that domestic personality as most of these wannah -B beldgian possess. Decent co2 makes it acceptable. Finish is not bad at all.

Cloudy gold, frothy white head. Smells flowery, with some lemon zest and a bit peppery. Nice crisp palate, with citrus, pepper, and floral hops. If this were just a little lower alcohol ( and a little less expensive), it would be a great session beer...
