3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Presentation: 750mL brown bottle with a "bottled on" date and a "best by" date printed on the neck.
Served in an oversized wine glass.
Appearance: It has a cloudy pale yellow color with a fluffy, white, 2 finger head that sticks around and leaves lots of lacing.
Smell: It has a dominant spice aroma, courtesy of the grains of paradise. Itís a very peppery smell, but there is also a whiff of banana and some malt in the background.
Taste: Itís quite spicy, just like the nose, with a pepper taste at the forefront. Thereís some citrus and alcohol notes as well.
Mouthfeel: Itís highly carbonated, with a medium body. Itís smooth and creamy with a clean finish.
Overall: A solid brew but nothing extraordinary. I donít get the Game of Thrones tie-in or the Iron Throne name, seeing this is a pretty tame drink. Itís something cool to have if youíre a fan of the books or the series, but itís not worth the price tag for everybody else. This is supposed to be the first in a series, so lets hope Ommegang can step it up and create something a bit more special and unique.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
THOUGHTS: Nice, but nothing unique. Very Ommegang in flavor. A little like a lighter, spicier Duvel.
TECHNICAL: Drank 3/31/2013. Bottle. Poured an ever-so-slightly hazy, medium golden yellow with a large white head that mostly diminished and left excellent lacing. The aroma had light to moderate light bread, pale malt and cracker; moderate grassy hops; moderate spicy yeast; pepper and lemon with more and more spice coming out as it warmed. The initial flavor was slightly sweet and slightly sweet and lightly acidic and bitter; while the finish was moderately bitter and lightly sweet and acidic with an average to long duration. There was pale malt, white bread, cracker, lemon, pepper, spices, spicy yeast, grassy hops and more and more lemon as it warmed. The light to medium body was dry with very fizzy carbonation and a dry and metallic finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Poured a hazy blonde color ale with a very generous head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of Belgian malt with some yeasty and bready undertones. Taste is also dominated by a Belgian style malt with some bready and yeasty notes with some residual sugar notes. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Solid Belgian blonde ale with nice drinkability factor.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
"Fairly typical belgian golden ale, though you can count on Ommegang to put together a well constructed brew. Overly carbonated, but surprisingly soft on the palate. Spices. light fruit and hops and the palate and the nose. Nothing special, save for the bottle itself, but a solid beer."

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is hay with mild banana. Flavor is very delicate, like a very dry white wine with a decent yeast presence. Clean, crisp with a light sweetness in the finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Single from the LCBO with a best before APRIL 09 2015. Pours a hazy light-golden colour with a big white frothy-creamy head, great retention and some foamy lace. Spicy aromas with some grass, citrus notes and mild Belgian Ale yeast. Medium-full bodied, smooth, almost creamy. Wheat taste with the citrus and grassy hops all well-balanced. A nice Belgian Blonde Ale that goes down well with the American-twist on it, with stronger hops.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle - corked & caged 750 ml) Golden pour with a puffy head. Mild yeast aroma with some lightly sweet spices. Couldnít get much hops in the aroma. Flavor is yeasty and spicy at the start with a smooth and grainy middle and a lightly bitter aftertaste. Well crafted.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(trade with OLking) - Only makes sense that I finish out this season with a bottle from the very first release of this series. Absolutely amazed the huge size of the white frothy head that poured out of the bottle. Orangey body. Lots of carbonation in the middle. Light yeast aroma. Still has a flavor of fresh yeast! This is easily the best of the three releases IMHO so far. "To Ygrette! Youíll be missed."
