COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Night gathers and it’s time to announce the newest beer in the Game of Thrones series. Take the Black Stout is named for the oath taken by those who stand the Night’s Watch at the Wall, defending Westeros against northern.

Take the Black Stout is a 7% beer, brewed with base, caramel, chocolate and roasted barley malts. Hopping includes Northern Brewer and Columbus; spices are licorice root and star anise. Hue is black with full tan head. Aromas include chocolate, caramel, and earthy hops, light roastiness, a touch of fruitiness. Tastes include chocolate, coffee, rich malts, and balanced roastiness. Clean hop bitterness joins with slight woody character and spiciness; the finish offers sweet malt character leading to spicy, earthy, hop bitterness.

Pours a dark brown bordering on black with a huge, foamy beige head. Smells like Belgian yeast, green apples, vanilla, and some chocolate. Tastes of raisins, black licorice, bittersweet chocolate, and coffee, with notes of wood and, of course, Belgian yeast. Overall a very good beer.

Black with a tall tan head. Medium bodied. Roasted malt, chocolate, a bit of espresso, lightly spiced. Finish has nice mild roast and a bit of spice. Good brew.

(Ommegang Game of Thrones #2 - Take the Black Stout) Bottle 750 ml, corked and caged, served into a snifter at home, ABV 7% Black colour on the body, one finger of thick, dark beige head, with good retention. Arom aof liquorice, red stewed fruits, plums, only faint anise. The taste is sweet, more anise now, again red fruits, plums, figs, roasted malts, sweet chocolate, liquorice and oats, hints of coffee even. Medium body, good carbonation, sticky on the palate. Great beer.

Bottle from back in 2013. Cleaning out the corners of the rot box tonight. Pours opaque black, medium creamy tan head, dissipates with lots of residual and nice lacing. Aroma is roast, hints of smoke, molasses, black licorice. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, roasty, earthy, molasses and anise. Full bodied. I really wanted to hate this as a gimmick beer, but its actually pretty well done.

Poured from a growler. Deep and dark which works well for me today. A beer that does not play around with its taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep black, consistency looking like molasses almost. Thick tan head. Immediately large aroma of coffee, caramel, roasted malt, chocolate, toffee. The flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, espresso, caramel, earthy. Overall, very dry, nice aftertaste of coffee. Palate is medium, and creamy

C-. Pours a black color with tan head. The finish is far too dry for my preference.

Pitch black with a half-finger tan head and wispy lace. Aromas of unsweetened dark chocolate and faint espresso. A bit of brown sugar sweetness up front with spices, roasted malt and toast. Medium body, minimal carbonation, oily mouthfeel and a dark fruit sweetness in the finish.

(En fût au Lucky Baldwin’s): Chocolat au lait, mélasse, menthe et un enrobage de baguette brûlée. Les houblons terreux se mêlent très bien à la torréfaction foncée, suave corpulence également. Belle surprise.

Very nice beer. Licorice and roast. A slight smokiness lingers in the back. Not as heavy as expected from a stout this size.
