COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fire & Blood is a 6.8% ABV Red ale, brewed with pilsner, Cara-60, Midnight Wheat, flaked rye and spelt. Assertive hopping includes CTZ, Styrian Golding and German Tettnang hops. Spiced with de-seeded Ancho chilies. Fire & Blood has a deep, dark red hue with a persistent, creamy, off-white head. Aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt & slight spice, followed by a slightly floral and spicy hop character. A fruity, sweetish malt taste gives way to faint drying provided by the hops & rye.

Yes, a straight up 4.0 from a draft tulip at Standard Market. Body is solid and dark red, even brown, under a stable eggshell head. The beer menu did not mention chiles, and I could not name them in the nose or taste. I did a rich malty smell with what I thought was a tang of sour cherry. The taste was quite dense and complex. A little stone fruit ester against a slightly citrusy hop load. I counted the spicy taste as coming from its ale yeast and maybe some wheat or rye, again missing out on chile. Finished with notes of cinnamon and red wine.

Bottle to taster Yeast, light toasted malt, bread, and lemon. Clear amber, thick creamy white head, and tons of lacing. Malt, mace, grains, and a little vinegar.

On tap at Wine Tap. Pours a hazy brown with an off white head. Funk and dried fruit aroma. Roasted malt, sourness, spices, raisins, funky yeast and bitter hops. OK.

Bottle - Raisin, dark fruit and estery yeast. Deep amber with a rich beige head. Tastes as it smells, with some dark sugars and peppery spice in the finish. Heat on the lips and throat.

Nose of canned vegetables. Tastes a lot more alcoholic than it smells. Nose is a boozy malted Belgian with spice. Interesting but not terribly drinkable.

Bottle sample at Muckfest V on 7/12/14. Clear reddish copper in color with a medium beige head. Malty and boozy nose with some esters and hops. Malty flavor with Belgian esters before a bitter finish.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Hazy brown with a big, frothy white head. Cherry, dark fruit, candy, then roses aroma, spiciness, mostly sweet and chili tangyness in the mouth. Well-carbonated, full-bodied, fruity-spicy finish.

750 ml bottle from And Beer. Pours a lightly cloudy amber with a finger of off-white head. Notes of bready and caramel malts, rye, raisin, candi sugar, earth, clove, banana, and peppers. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, bready, spicy mouthfeel. Kind of a kitchen sink beer. Lot going on here, and it works to a degree.

Bottle, shared with Robbie. Deep ruby with an effervescent head. Estery caramel, boring and over carbonated. Disappointing.

Bottle sample at He’Brew tasting at Beer&Beyond shop. Hazy murky brown with a big tan head. Fruity phenolic aroma, with a smell of overripe fruits, banana, yeast and spices. Sweet, caramel malts, fruity and spicy, light tart notes. Medium-bodied, oily. OK.

Aroma is spicey hops, dark fruit and dark malts. Taste is sweet malts, plum, and some floral hops and yeastiness. Finishes quite dry. Appearance is a clear copper / brown with an impressive fluffy lace head that retains quite well.
