COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Glimmerglass - The name given to our lake by James Fenimore Cooper - is a beautiful body. Nested between gentle mountains, it reflects any object held up to it, just as it reflects our joy at the arrival of each spring. To help celebrate, pour new spring saison offers a perfect balance of maltiness and hops, with a touch of yeasty fruitiness and a whiff of pepper.

Bottle. Cloudy golden body with a huge, frothy, off-white head. Musty aroma with orange, spice, toasted grain. Notes of banana and lemon. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is lightly sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. A bit sweet, overall and a bit heavy for a spring saison. But it avoids being overly spiced. And itís enjoyable to drink.

Reviewed March 22, 2014. A: Welp...itís one of those beers. It pours a relatively clear golden color, yeah, I figured it would. But this also pours a bajillion-finger head, bone white in shade. Luckily, the bubbly head doesnít have fantastic retention. Some splotches of lacing are left behind. Since the head doesnít retain annoyingly, Iíll still give it a very good score. S: The nose offers a lot of wheat, but I also seem to pick up a weird herbal tone I get in some wheat beers - like deviled ham, almost. But there are nice notes here, like black pepper, coriander, very subtle fruit, and clove. Still, this is disappointing: Iím sure it will still taste good, but I flat-out donít like this beerís aroma. T: Thankfully, the taste does work well. Some mild fruitiness opens it up, quickly giving way to a (welcome) yeasty bite in the middle. The finish is nice and lemony, and even mildly herbaceous. My biggest problem is that it doesnít taste particularly rustic: it honestly reminds me more of a witbier (a good witbier, to be fair, but still...) M: This one is pretty light on the palate. While itís not saison dry, itís dry enough to go down easily. Carbonation is soft yet effective. O: Personally, I donít think this is that saison-y (compared to, say, Hennepin, which is and then some). To me, this tastes more like a witbier. Having said that, itís a good one, nose aside. A smidge too expensive (compared to its quality) for me to purchase again, but worth a try regardless.

Over-carbonated cloudy copper beer with a bright crackling white head that fills the entire glass. I could not pour the entirety of the beer into my glass because half of it was filled with foam. Nose of lemon, white wine vinegar, and white pepper. Flavor is bright and fresh with layers of lemongrass, pepper, and spice finished with a light pungent bitterness. Crisply effervescent, this is a fine saison.

Pours a pale to medium clear amber with a thin white ring. Light aroma of Belgian spices. Typical flavors of most other Ommegang products and a somewhat dry finish. Not as good as I was hoping for. OK but not great.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden-yellow with some floaties. Massive pillar of white foam with insane retention. Nose is mild funk, white pepper, yeasty spice, lemon custard, grass. Mouth is medium bodied, slightly creamy, nice balance of tartness with the mild sweetness, lemon zest, daffodils, pepper, toasted brioche. Very crushable. Nicely done.

Drank from a large tulip, poured from a bottle, this beer was a medium orange/burnt orange with some yellow in the glass and it was pretty hazy, the pour presented a large, fluffy white cover that was lasting, it left nice spots and partial rings of lacing on the side of the glass, I got the peppercorn when I first popped the cap, the aromas were orange and lemon fruit, faint pear and floral notes, light malt with a touch of bread, some funk and light grass hops, very faint pepper, and some malt and fruit sweetness, it had flavors of lemon, pear and orange, light malt, a little pepper and sweetness, the finish had a gentle bitterness with some citrus and bite (from the carbonation), the mouth feel was light and animated with carbonation that was a bit much, the nose was pretty good and a proper start, the flavor less so because of the carbonation, the carbonation was a bit much, and sort of got in the way of enjoying the flavors, toning down the carbonation would help, I think the pepper spice bite and carbonation bite together was a bit much.

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear golden amber with a lasting white head. Aromas of straw, fruitiness and light pepper. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of fruit and pepper with a crisp dry lingering peppery finish.
