This delectable blonde ale is a co-creation of two famed farmstead breweries: Brewery Ommegang and Brasserie d’Achouffe. It employs five fine malts, two noble hops, and both of the distinctive Chouffe and Ommegang yeasts. You’ll enjoy the smooth drinkability, fruity aromas and flavors, and warming finish

12oz bottle picked up at Brewforia Eagle for a pricey $4ish... Pours with a resilient 3 finger foamy white head... the brew is hazed golden. Nose is full of character.... pear, apple, hints of clove and pepper.. a little grassy as it warms up. Flavor mirrors the aroma with a bit more clover presence that begins mid-palate and powers through the finish... the phenols sorta clobber the fruity esters, but again the pear and apple are still pretty present. Expected huge carbonation... the body doesn’t seem like a 9.5% brew.

750ml bottle 10/12/13 (Hy-Vee Cedar Rapids)-42° in Trappist Glass-Pours a near clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, grains, fruit, and slight hops. Taste of the same with more hops, grains, malt, yeast, and fruits. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and has a bit more flavore than the Duvel Rustica blonde.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 750ml corked and caged bottle into a tulip glass. The label has a nice description of the beer and it lists the abv at 9.5%. Appearance: The body has a tan/blonde color with a heavy haze and some light brown sediment floating around near the bottom of the glass. On top there is an off white cap of foam that slowly settles and makes some nice slick lacing on the glass. Smell: There is a big classic Belgian yeast character coming to the nose. With it comes fruit, funk and wet hay mixed with some sweet bready malt and solid notes of floral/spicy hops. Taste/Palate: It started with a nice base of sweet bready malt and yeast with a light touch of funk and wet hay. Inside this are some nice fruity notes as well and I get white wine grapes, light unripe peach and mild orange blossom. This is all backed up by a firm floral and spicy hop bitterness that adds a pleasant balance and dryness to the finish. It’s well balanced on the palate and fun to drink. Notes: Overall it is an outstanding Belgian which to me seems to fits somewhere between a Blond and a Triple. Also of note here is the very well hidden 9.5% abv.

Sample pour a while back at the Happy Gnome...cloudy orange body, decent head for a 5 oz pour as well. Aroma is yeasty and spicy...remember thinking it had some pepper notes in particular...definitely has a bite to it with some fruit in the background. Flavor is quite similar...very yeasty/bready with some slight bitterness and spice along with a bit of fruit. Palate was light but well carbonated. Interesting drink, it didn’t hold up to some of the other Belgians I was sampling this evening, but still a nice brew.

The beer appears to have a nice orange color with a slight haze to it, nice white head and a decent lace. The smell is a nice fruity aroma with a nice banana and clove smell too. The taste is outstanding with banana and clove with some mild spicey flavors, a great combination. The mouthfeel is spicey and with a later taste of clove too. Overall, this is a great colaboration between two great brewers. A great combination of taste and smell. I had this beer on tap prior to having it in bottle but forgot to review it....they hit a home run with this beer. If you can, stock up on this beer before it is gone,

A steady pour into my teku glass produces a fat-two-finger thick, pale, just barely tan tinged head. The beer is a pale amber tinged, tan color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright golden hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells amply of fruit, with pear, and floral apple leading the way, but there is a noticeable backdrop of earthy spice aromatics that suggest at coriander, woody ginger, perhaps a hint of menthol somehow, and an earthy pepper note that seems to have lost its heat but still has a woody edge to it.

Prickly carbonation up front significantly accentuates a peppery spice character that is in this beer. As the beer rolls across the tongue, solid fruit laden pear flavors, touches of floral apple, and some tangy green grape flavors are all noticeable. The peppery notes lead the spice character here, but there is a woody character, some ginger like notes, as well as a significant clove character that grows and lingers towards the finish of each sip. The beer has a body that is fairly light, definitely light for a typical beer of this strength, but it still has a definite viscosity to it, but that doesn’t keep this from being dangerously quaffable.

Definitely a nice beer, I was looking forward to this beer hopefully, and it has lived up to this quite well.

Yellowy orange with small white head. Aroma lemon, yeast, spice, hay. Medium-full body, some carbonation, not much alcohol. Flavors of sweet citrus, yeasty bread, light hops, a soft estery finish. Less complex that I expected but given the flavor profile quite easy to drink as well.
