COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This delectable blonde ale is a co-creation of two famed farmstead breweries: Brewery Ommegang and Brasserie d’Achouffe. It employs five fine malts, two noble hops, and both of the distinctive Chouffe and Ommegang yeasts. You’ll enjoy the smooth drinkability, fruity aromas and flavors, and warming finish

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 750ml corked and caged bottle into a tulip glass. The label has a nice description of the beer and it lists the abv at 9.5%. Appearance: The body has a tan/blonde color with a heavy haze and some light brown sediment floating around near the bottom of the glass. On top there is an off white cap of foam that slowly settles and makes some nice slick lacing on the glass. Smell: There is a big classic Belgian yeast character coming to the nose. With it comes fruit, funk and wet hay mixed with some sweet bready malt and solid notes of floral/spicy hops. Taste/Palate: It started with a nice base of sweet bready malt and yeast with a light touch of funk and wet hay. Inside this are some nice fruity notes as well and I get white wine grapes, light unripe peach and mild orange blossom. This is all backed up by a firm floral and spicy hop bitterness that adds a pleasant balance and dryness to the finish. It’s well balanced on the palate and fun to drink. Notes: Overall it is an outstanding Belgian which to me seems to fits somewhere between a Blond and a Triple. Also of note here is the very well hidden 9.5% abv.

Draft at devil’s advocate, Minneapolis. Smells like a saison. Wonderful. Slightly hazy gold with pure white snow head. Beautiful lace. Allspice notes hit the tongue on first sip. Exquisite. Pepper notes. Hides the 9.5% really well. Creamy and moderately sweet. Truly outstanding.

Bought the Ommegang gift set with three bottle and glass (for myself obviously.) Pours a slightly hazy golden straw color with a fluffy eggshell head that clung on to the glass. Smells of wheat, banana esters from the yeast, with a nice floral note. Taste is amazing. Nice light wheat maltiness with a little bit of hop bitterness finishing with a semi-sweet banana like flavor. Awesomely well done collaboration between two of my favorite breweries. Cheers!

On tap, amazing yeasty/white pepper aroma. Nice darker golden hazy pour with thick to lacy head. Huge spiced flavor but keeps it a light, refreshing saison. Really fantastic, Ommegang always delivers.

wonderful fruity aroma and soft head quickly give way to subtle nastiness and lingering fermented fruit flavor

The body has a wonderful harvest gold color with plenty of white head that faded quickly. The aroma is a medley of yeast characteristics with a distinct fruitiness and plenty dough as well. The flavor is similarly well balanced with the ABV hidden very well. A very smooth finish. This is easily one of the best new beers I’ve tried in some time.

When I pulled the cork, I noticed that the beer was not as aggressively carbonated as Duvel, the benchmark of the style. The body was also noticed to be more cloudy, and with a slightly darker shade of yellow, than the pale golden color that other BSPA’s typically display. The smell was grassy, and floral, typical of the style. The taste was very lemony, with floral and spicy hop notes. The middle was dry, and the tartness lasted into the aftertaste. As the beer warmed up, some banana and tropical fruit flavors started to show up. This was not as funky as Hennepin, but was closer to that flavor profile than BSPA’s like Duvel. Mouthfeel was a touch lighter than medium, and carbonation was soft and not overly aggressive. The alcohol was well hidden, and the warming finish surprising. A hybrid that tastes more like a cohesive whole.

Pours gold/copper with a nice, sustained white head. Smells of perfume, dry pilsner malt, some light funky elements. Tastes of citrus, dry, some noble hoppy hints peaking through with a nice, grassy/floral push on the finish. Great beer. How am I the first to rate this one?

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes to hug rim. Yeast funk, grass and resin aromas. Funky sweet yeast and summer fruit upfront turning to a lasting bittersweet noble hop finish.
