At first whiff, my olfactory senses come alive with the aroma of soft cooked bananas. It hits me right in the feels bringing back small childhood memories from tropical climes; just before Iím done and can sniff no more, I get a subtle hint -the merest flirtation of papaya. The yeasty aromas of not one, but two legendary breweries combine into a perfect harmony which whispers "drink me". The hops are underplayed, theyíre subtle and seductive while the malts are rambunctious and exuberant I pour it slowly into my glass but with enough vigour to produce a nice thick inch-and-a-quarter head. The head is off-white and the pour is a beautiful hazy tan. Like golden sunlight on a field of ripening barley. I lift the glass and look through it towards the light and am rewarded with a sun-mote banquet of yeast floating like diamonds of dust, raised to the top by the slow and steady effervescence of the mild carbonation. The taste is amazing. Itís a combination of lightly sweet fruitiness which combines with the aroma transporting you to better, simpler times; and a mild sourness and the barest hint of an umami astringency which works well with the high alcohol content as a counterpoint to what could otherwise be an overpowering tendency on the fruity side of this nectar. The palate is kicked in the teeth a little bit with a surprisingly thin body for such a complex beer. The mouthfeel is nevertheless surprisingly full when balanced by the soft carbonation yielding a lively and pleasant freshness and vibrancy to this beer. Overall, I really really (have I said really enough) enjoyed this beer. Mine was bottled on 07/25/2011 and it has aged very well and I am going to cut this short now to rush out to the beer store and stock up on a few more bottles. Or maybe I should wait until tomorrow; after all, at 9.5% ABV this little gnome packs a man-sized whallop!

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 750ml corked and caged bottle into a tulip glass. The label has a nice description of the beer and it lists the abv at 9.5%. Appearance: The body has a tan/blonde color with a heavy haze and some light brown sediment floating around near the bottom of the glass. On top there is an off white cap of foam that slowly settles and makes some nice slick lacing on the glass. Smell: There is a big classic Belgian yeast character coming to the nose. With it comes fruit, funk and wet hay mixed with some sweet bready malt and solid notes of floral/spicy hops. Taste/Palate: It started with a nice base of sweet bready malt and yeast with a light touch of funk and wet hay. Inside this are some nice fruity notes as well and I get white wine grapes, light unripe peach and mild orange blossom. This is all backed up by a firm floral and spicy hop bitterness that adds a pleasant balance and dryness to the finish. Itís well balanced on the palate and fun to drink. Notes: Overall it is an outstanding Belgian which to me seems to fits somewhere between a Blond and a Triple. Also of note here is the very well hidden 9.5% abv.

Draft at devilís advocate, Minneapolis. Smells like a saison. Wonderful. Slightly hazy gold with pure white snow head. Beautiful lace. Allspice notes hit the tongue on first sip. Exquisite. Pepper notes. Hides the 9.5% really well. Creamy and moderately sweet. Truly outstanding.

I love popping the cork on this one... The sweet spicy aroma blasts out of the bottle before I even pour it! The flavor follows suit. Just delicious!

The body has a wonderful harvest gold color with plenty of white head that faded quickly. The aroma is a medley of yeast characteristics with a distinct fruitiness and plenty dough as well. The flavor is similarly well balanced with the ABV hidden very well. A very smooth finish. This is easily one of the best new beers Iíve tried in some time.

Bought the Ommegang gift set with three bottle and glass (for myself obviously.) Pours a slightly hazy golden straw color with a fluffy eggshell head that clung on to the glass. Smells of wheat, banana esters from the yeast, with a nice floral note. Taste is amazing. Nice light wheat maltiness with a little bit of hop bitterness finishing with a semi-sweet banana like flavor. Awesomely well done collaboration between two of my favorite breweries. Cheers!

wonderful fruity aroma and soft head quickly give way to subtle nastiness and lingering fermented fruit flavor

The beer appears to have a nice orange color with a slight haze to it, nice white head and a decent lace. The smell is a nice fruity aroma with a nice banana and clove smell too. The taste is outstanding with banana and clove with some mild spicey flavors, a great combination. The mouthfeel is spicey and with a later taste of clove too. Overall, this is a great colaboration between two great brewers. A great combination of taste and smell. I had this beer on tap prior to having it in bottle but forgot to review it....they hit a home run with this beer. If you can, stock up on this beer before it is gone,

This beer pours crystal clear and light and is absolutely delicious. It actually tastes similar to a Tripel. Excellent!
