COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Goudenhop is Flemish-American meaning golden hop. The ale is a hoppy blonde ale, perhaps best described as an imperial Belgian-style IPA. Rich gold in color, with distinct hop resin in the nose and citrus in the taste. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with spicy notes from our unique Ommegang house yeast.

This is a very good but I do not think imperial Belgian ipa is a good description I would loose the imperial and call it a Belgian ipa or pale ale. Like all of ommegangs beers it looks great and has a huge head. Aroma is nice yeast, hops and citrus. Easy drinker that is perfect for a hot day.

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. ABV 7.4% per the label. Pours a thick, tiny bubbled, well retained white head, with extensive lacing, over a hazy gold (SRM 5) body.....nose is light Pils malts, with hints of lemon, pear, heavier resin.....taste is light malts with hints of lemon, pear, finishing with a lingering peppery bitterness....mouth feel light of medium, slightly astringent, alcohol hidden, carbonation adds light spritz. This is a nicely balanced, pleasantly complex beer in both aroma and flavor, with a clean refreshing bitter finish. Unfortunately, it really does not meet the Blonde Ale style. It is hazy probably from dry hopping, when it should be clear. Also, and this was intentional by the brewers, it has way too much hop character. However, I think it is a well done experiment. Bright golden color with a rocky off white head. Nice earthy, dry spice, dry hay, dusty pale malt aromas. Frothy light mouthfeel. Dry spicy hop, light fruit flavors with a dusty pale malt base; dry clean finish--very tasty.

750 ml bottle. Pours a rich golden color with a thick white head. Aroma of bright, grassy hops, fruity yeast, and fresh baked bread. Some melon, some apricot, touches of banana. Flavor is light, mildly bitter, mild honey bread sweetness. Medium bodied, fluffy cloud-like mouthfeel. Finishes a touch bitter in the finish. This is a nice little golden.

Bottle from brewery. Clear visibility, after leaving bottom sediment in bottle. Nice gold in color. Complex and balanced flavor profile. Banana, pear notes. Black pepper note. Slight earthiness. Clean, bright mouthfeel. Bitterness lingers. Overall, nice Belgian ale. Great beer for capping off an active day in warm weather.

Bottle at Flying Saucer Beerfeast. Pours a cloudy orange gold with small frothy white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is funk and yeast. Thin mouthfeel with yeast flavor and light hop with nice spice in the finish. A good Belgian ale from Ommegang.

Bottle I got the bottom of it so there is QUITE a bit of sediment apparent. Murky yellow gold color. Light bubbly white head. Aroma is grassy, lemon citrus with a slight bit of funk. Flavor is slightly bitter, yeasty, citrus notes with some lemon tart finish.

Bottle-purchased at Specs El Paso, TX January 2013-pours hazy orange with a huge fluffy white head and great puffy lacing. head retention is fantastic! nose is spicy hops (noble garlic hop notes), lite perfumy citrus, ripe fruit, but dominated by spicy/noble hops. flavors show an abundance of garlic noble hops, leafy tobacco, citrus, belgian yeast, and lite pine in the finish. the finish goes quite long however, not very strong. lingering noble hops and yeasty qualities prevail. not a band beer but doesnt seem refined. There are much better hoppy belgian ales out there.

Crystal-clear gold colored huge white head. Very little aroma at first. Not to yeasty nor hoppy. A nice first beer of the day or for lunch. One of the better ommegang beers I've had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
