Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

bottle. Hennepin is a very nice, somewhat hoppy and very citrusy Saison... very drinkable and quite good. pours a bright golden color with a good size white head. tons of citrus on the nose along with some lingering spice and yeast. light to medium body with some nice bitterness up front, similar in degree to a pale ale, with more citrus notes across the top of the tongue. Big crisp finish with a touch of sour lemon and more bitterness. A very nice Saison to break out....

750 ml bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a large foamy white head. Aroma is wheat, banana, sweet malts. Flavor is a touch of spice mixed in with sweet malts, banana, wheat notes. Saison is not my favorite style, but this one is not bad.

Cave aged ’03 bottle from MCLK. Poured golden with huge white active head. Nose was sweet sugar and funk. Smelled like a basement, dusty. Flavor was candy sugar, mild spice, clove and yeast. Some bready qualities. Slight sourness. Held up ok.

2003 cave-aged bottle, courtesy MCLK. Clear straw pour, thick filmy white head, massive lacing. Very dry nose, some wheat, and yeasty as hell. Flavor has some grapes and a slight tart touch, but very dry wheaty grain overall. Medium-bodied, hasn’t aged terribly well, but still easy to drink.

750 ml from Binny’s. Pours a golden hue with a nice fluffy head that seems to last for awhile. Aromas is a little hops, citrus and yeast. On the palate its crisp and pretty carbonated. Like the description says IT DOES have some champagne like qualities. Flavor is citrus, hops, spice and lots of Belgian yeast. This is a great beer....definitely something for quenching the summertime thirst!!!!

Bottle. Light golden color with a white head. Aroma is sweet malt, hops, and fruit. Flavor is malty, somewhat sweet and spicy with some citrus and yeast notes. Moderate alcohol in the finish. Not very interesting.
