COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2011 Bottle. Light sour/wheat nose. Banana phenols as well. Medium bodied with a lot of the banana esters. Some apple and cinammon too. More a Belgian Pale than a Saison in the Dupont/Fantome tradtition. Very enjoyable, drinkable little pale.

Moderately dry saison, very bubbly, for damn sure, but quite drinkable. A bold, yeasty tartness starts things off, then the flavor settles into calm, drinkable Saison-mode, wheaty and grassy with a trip through the herb garden thrown in. The hops are subtle yet firm, keeping the finish from growing overly sweet. Not a great saison, but a great introduction to the style. (2008)

When it comes to saisons, this one is hard to beat. Pours a cloudy bright sunny yellow with a nice big frothy head. Aroma of grain, clove, yeast that just is awesome. Taste is bright, yeasty and grain. A small hop bite but overall clove and corriander that is fantastic.

Light golden in color with a thick white head and a small amount of lace. Aroma of alcohol and citrus. Light hops in taste with the alcohol fairly apparent and citrus hops at the end.

(12oz bottle). Pours somewhat hazy light yellow with massive chunky white head. Carbonation is quite active. Aroma has hay, grass, wheat and lemon. Taste is sweet malt, but the hop bitterness is more pronounced. It’s a bit spicy as well. Light to medium bodied witha slick texture. Finish is dry and reminiscent of lemon peel. This is a refreshing and easy to drink beer with a well hidden abv. A good beer.

750ml bottle, late ’09 vintage (from gift set). Served at around 45F

Pours fairly hazy light yellow with a large foamy white head that maintains a nice cap and leaves plenty of lacing.

Aroma is banana, lemon, yeast, spice, dough, apple, pear, fruity, a bit funky. Very good strength.

Flavor is more fruits such as banana, apple and pear, some lemon citrus, yeast/bread/dough, a bit of spice, minimal to no alcohol, light sweetness.

Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, good scrubbing carbonation, slightly syrupy.

Not very experienced in Saisons, but found this to be a tasty, well-crafted brew. Particularly enjoyed the aroma.

On tap at The Half Pint in Greenwich Village. I’ve had this from the bottle and found it much more enjoyable on tap. It was all a saison should be and more! It was lovely to look at, wonderful to smell, and even more amazing to taste. I suppose that’s as to be expected from Ommegang!
