COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Cloudy deep yellow with a perfect, rocky white head. Full nose: fruity, a little yeast, citrus notes, hops, and YUM. Big malt hop balance up front followed by a slightly sour finish that is enjoyable. Excellent beer as are all Ommegang products.

Sweet mild nose, lovely gold color, huge sticky head. Man is this stuff good: smooth, creamy malty body with generous amounts of yeast and pleasant bitter end. Alcohol kick intensifies the flavor. Excellent. Truly awesome for something brewed in the US.

Very impressive indeed! Pours the color of apple cider with a decent head that leaves a respectable head and an honorable lace. I should mention here that I'm not using the "correct" glass for the style, which may account for the lack of perfection. I'm giving it extra points, though for the splended education given by reading the label on the bottle. Smells primarily of bananas, to be honest, but there's a freshness to the scent that is *really* nice. Tastes wonderfully fruity. Bananas are the strongest, but pears are follow closely behind. Considering I don't like pears normally, this really does taste good. I'm not sure hops were even used in this beer, but it tastes so good that they're not missed at all. Mouthfeel is very full and quite thick. It's well-carbonated which for this style is a great thing. Drinkability is good, but given the alcohol content, be careful. This beer snuck up on me, so to speak.

Mild sweet honey nose. Light orange color, little layer of a frothy head leaving brussels laces on the glass. Spicey but mild, orange comes through as the main taste. Medium lasting aftertaste.

Generous frothy white head. Citrusy, floral aroma with some sweetness behind it. Initial flavor is a an indistinct wheat sweetness while the aftertaste has alcohol, slight hop bitterness and a strong artifical banana flavor. Think weak banana taste with a metallic note. This last bit really killed the beer for me, as it otherwise smelled and looked great.

My 1st impression was, "Wow, this beer is the color of a golden retriever." A bit floaty. NIce foamy head, though I have decided all that shit does is make my nose tickle. I watch anxiously as it disipates...la la la, waiting, waiting, waiting...score! I'm not too keen on the scent, but it tastes pretty bomb. Almost food-like. Very interesting, like nothing I've ever experienced before. I'm almost confused. In a universe of repititious flavors & redundant style this one stands on it's own. Apple & Apple give it 2 thumbs up. ( :

Cloudy yellow orange with a foamy white head. Perfumed peach nose--quite nice. Medium bodied with soft buy spunky carbonation. Flavor is slightly tart and citric with a pleasingly strong note of fruit. Finish with a lingering, slightly medicinal bitterness.

Fairly rich golden color just slightly hazy with a moderate head and carbonation. Fruity and winelike aroma with the cork smell. Medium bodied and musty with apple cider and peach flavors and a background bitterness like lemon peel. Finished sweet with some alcohol aftertaste. Mellow and quite drinkable but not really all that inspiring. No date on the bottle but I've had it cellared for about a year and perhaps should have drank it sooner.

Pours a pale yellow, nice size head, fine bubbles. Sweet aroma, slight bit of citrus. Spicy and yeasty flavor, nice hop finish.

* tried it at a beer meeting with several other beers, hence I don't remember all my comments - only the ratings which I wrote down at the time.
