COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Aroma: Hints of bread or cereal malts, lots of banana, slight hint of clove. Appearance: Sparkling gold with thick, frothy head. Taste: Light sweetness, medium sourness, slight saltiness. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation, medium finish. Overall: It’s a very solid, drinkable beer. A bit too carbonated for my taste, but I understand that’s part of the style, so it certainly wasn’t unexpected. I could certainly see quaffing a few of these in a Belgian farmhouse somewhere.

Bottle - pours a hazy gold/light orange with sizable, fluffy white head. Grains with a bit of spice and fruit on the nose. Slightly bitter taste with spice and hay coming through. Smooth finish, a bit of dryness - very enjoyable with alcohol hidden. A bit of a light offering of the style, but good nonetheless.

What a treat. Pours golden with a frothy head, kinda reminds me of seafoam. Smell a floral bouquet with what I swear is honey. Light on the tounge and crisp to the end. Very refreshing to drink and goes down easily. Hoppy but not bitter. The choice of hops and yeast really make this brew. My second brew by ommegang and I would easily try a third. Cheers.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2011 My first saison. Tastes and looks a lot like a tripel. Sharp carbonation. Very good.

The best American Saison. It’s as refined as the top Belgian versions of said style. Sense floral and citrus hoppiness.

Saison (French, "season") is the name originally given to refreshing, low-alcohol pale ales brewed seasonally in farmhouses in Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium, to refresh farm workers during harvest season. Modern-day saisons are also brewed in other countries, particularly the USA, and are generally bottle conditioned, with an average range of 5 to 8% abv,[1] though saisons at the more traditional 3.5% strength can still be found. { Wikipedia} 7.7% is a pretty big beer. Love that cork pop,, makes me wonder how diff. this could taste on draft. Smells ok, nice frothy head, love those champagne - like self conditioned bottle bubbles. Nice pile of it on the bottom. The label says pour so not to disturb so thats how I’ll agree to do the first couple, but after that I’m shakin this fucker around just a little. Man, this stuff tastes clean. It has kind of a lemony taste in the nose. Very refreshing, non cloying etc. Could be just me but it seems to stick in the back of the windpipe a little. Get some hot wings and this stuff will be bad ass.

On tap at the Yard House in Kansas City. Comes a slightly cloudy pale gold. Nice white head. Aroma of spices, citrus and yeast. Tastes is similar. Nice balance of sweetness and bitterness. Very enjoyable.

How i don’t have this rated is beyond me...had a bunch of it and it always pleases. Perhaps not quite the chalkiness (which is somehow a good thing) as dupont, but a lot of good grass, sunny flavors that finish very clean. Also love the carbonation, small and fizzy...this one usually has a champagne cork. Definitely recommended if you like Saisons...pretty easy to find and not too expensive comparatively.
