This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

I enjoyed this Hennepin more than Ommegang ale. Better aroma, better flavor. Quite fruity. A pleasant surprise.

Pale and not too heavy but has plenty of flavor. Nice head, golden and cloudy.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2006 Cave Aged Bottle #0771: Thanks much to Elaine & Ben for this generous gift. Very crisp and Saison-like, as to be expected. White, fluffy head. Regular Hennepin: Iím not sure why everyoneís so high on this saison. Itís got a bit of sourness and is outshone by its two stablemates - Rare Vos and Ommegang. Nice head and decent complexity.

This beer poured out a nice golden color. It formed a nice white head with some lace on the side later on. The aroma of smelled of malts and cirtus. Good level of carbination to this beer. Due to that, the initial mouthfeel taste of it throws me off a little, but it sudsides after the next taste or so. Hides itís alcohol content well. A very enjoyable beer.

Nice slightly sweet and citrus aroma and flavor. Has almost an earthy taste to it. Another good beer from Brewery Ommegang.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2009 750mL bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of banana, candy sugar, pepper. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Well, it isnít a saison, really, just a vague Belgian-style golden ale. Sticky sweetness just wonít go away in the finish. Fairly generic aroma, and too much banana ester, but itís not unpleasant really. I thought this used to be better. Oh well.

BananaClove in the aroma, looks pretty much like any Belgian style ale, although the flavor was less full. The hops really didnít come out for me until the finish. Somewhat sweet.
