The cork came out with a serious pop. It poured a nice golden yellow color with a light, white head. Apples, bananas, citrus and some yeast dominate. Dry and crisp. Refreshing.

Lots of foamy head, possibly exacerbated by drinking it out of (due to extenuating circumstances) a cheap plastic hotel cup. Nice golden color, light and crisp (in a good way.) Some wheaty bubblegum-type aromas. Very refreshing.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 27, 2012 My Bottom Line :
This dry and slick Saison feels more polished than average (for the style), lending plenty of fruity esters (banana, pear) alongside slim cereals, spicy hops and bready yeast.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam tops the nearly clear dark golden.
-The fruitiness extends into lemony angles and apricot sweetness.
-Effervescence is fluffy, but perhaps not as intense as most Saisons nowadays.
-Finish is dry, with lightly herbal hop bitterness.
-This has a very professional feel to it and its nuances and delicate nature are a great match to lots of seafood dishes, fish, poultry, etc.
-This brew really opens up when getting close to room temperature. Peppery, floral notes are achieved and the aroma suddenly gels, which is not the case when it’s straight out of the cellar (10C-ish).

Probably the best American representative of this Belgian style.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very cloudy yellow with a dense and sticky white head. Aromas of grapefruit, candy sugar with some mustiness mixed in to boot. Sharp bitterness initially with a sourish middle and a basement like musty finish. Love it.

Another solid Ommegang product. A complex farmhouse ale. I find it just a bit harsh (metallic?) on the palate but nice with a light snack.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy golden-peach in color. Very fruity nose with some spice and just a touch of mustiness. Balance is on the sweet side but it is enjoyable. At just over $4 for the 750 ml. bottle, this is a steal.

Hazy golden colour w/ big, dense head. Sweet, flowery, spicy nose w/ notes of coriander and orange peel. Warm smooth effervescent feel. Quite complex flavours: moderate malt and hops; dry, warm and spicy w/ hints of coriander, orange peel, ginger.
