COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Bottle. Poured a light hazy yellow with a huge pure white frothy head that was fully lasting and had extremely excellent lacing. The aroma was very heavy of an earthy yeast, and a moderate odor of straw malts and a citrus hops with notes of banana and some spices(clove I think). It tasted mildly sweet and yeasty with a slight acidic tinge at first and ended with mildly bitter yeast flavor and had hints of citrus, and other spices with the flavor lingering on the palate for a nice while. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and watery yet dry in texture with a flat carbonation. Overall an exceelent representation of the style and a brew most definitely worth drinking again.

Fabulous fairly light Saison. Lots of yeast and bread notes. Not as spicy as other saisons, but plenty of flavor to go around. Somewhat sweet fruity notes. Almost wheat-like in color and body.

First saison so not much to compare to. Poured into tulip from bomber, really nice hazy golden body with lively, lasting head and decent lacing. Smells of sweet citrus and fruit with a hint of pine. Taste was similar with citrus and tart up front and hint of peppery spice as it rolls around my tongue. The mouthfeel is what I really enjoyed about this one. Dry and tart and very lively carbonation that really lets the flavor rise up into the nose. The crisp, clean finish makes this really enjoyable and easy to drink. Will definitely try more in this style.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Duvel tulip. Appearance: Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a 3 finger fluffy snow white head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Smell: Banana, clove and yeast with a hint of pear. Smells very much like a hefeweizen. Taste: Dry throughout with clear but not overwhelming phenolic notes. There is a fruitiness present but it is not sweet in any way. Light bitterness at the finish. There is a hint of funk in there as well. Aftertaste is dry and fairly bitter. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Quite smooth. Drinkability: High drinkability. The alcohol is very well hidden. Overall: Very good beer overall. I would recommend giving this one a try.

Subtle lemon and clove in the aroma with hops but almost no malt. Hop bitterness, clove and lemon in the flavor. Champagne-like bubbles add dimension and a very nice mouthfeel.

I have been craving a Saison for weeks now. I stopped at a small package store off of a random exit on the mass pike and found Hennepin on sale! I had this beer years ago and I could not recall exactly what it was like. It is not as light and citrusy as I was hoping for, but it is still a unique and memorable beer. I gave the appearance a 5 because the the thin white head sticks to the walls of this tulip like a work of art. The aroma is crisp light citrus hops and a hint of fantome-style funk. The flavors are not overpowering in any way. I love the balance between the hops and buttery finish. Very nice domestic-Belgian.

On tap at Stone 11/4/10. Yellow with only slight haze. Big fluffy head. Wonderfully drinkable, if not only one dimensional. Light yeasty spice on nose and in mouth. Rather unoffensive in any sort of manner. Not overly anything.
