4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Bif (529) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 4, 2010
Poured from a 750ml Bottle. Pours a clear Pale golden color, with a billowy head that slowly fades to some lacing. Has a mild citrus and spice aroma, hint of banana and mixture of other scents. Smells inviting.
Starts with a mild fruit and peppery lemon, continues to a light hops flavor with a subtle dry finish. Crisp & Refreshing. Medium body with mild carbonation. Smooth, No hint of the 7.7% ABV. Very well balanced.
Excellent brew. This is a good Saison to compare others to.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 cpetrone84 (629) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 1, 2010
A-pours a transparent pale yellow color with tons of bubbly white head leaving a spider web like lace all over the glass.
S-there is raw honey and lemon up front, there is uncooked dough underneath, hints of grain with big hop aromas, tons of herbal grassy hops with just a hint barnyard funk, hint!
T-the taste is similar but adds more funk, the raw honey is right up front and comes in strong, notes of lemon and grain, the uncooked dough really sets a foundation but the flavor is subdued. a little grainy towards the back, lots of earthy grassy hops, very hay like with some subtle barnyard funk in the back but more present than the nose.
M-this is medium bodied and very juicy throughout. grainy on the palate, lively and active carbonation with a crisp semi dry finish.
D-this is a well balanced and delicious saison. it tends to lead more towards the wit but still seems to have hints of that summer funk in the back. tasty summer ale!

On tap at Abbey in Baltimore.
I’m not usually into this style of Belgian beer (or at least I didn’t think so) , but this one may have changed my mind. Good strong refreshing flavor, had a grapefruit/citrus finish. Very drinkable despite delivering a decent alcohol punch.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Nikiel (675) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 20, 2010
A light ale with white fluffy head. Very little wheat flavor, or much flavor at all for that matter, very little speciality at all.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 brenn79 (859) - Idaho, USA - AUG 20, 2010
25.4 oz caged corked bottle- Pours golden with a nice white head, the aroma is bananas and yeast, some tang in there as well. The flavor is a little disappointing, its very good, but not even close to great, it has the Belgian thing goin’ on, high carbonation. It kind of leaves a pungent sourness, not like candy sour, but the bad sour aftertaste with a film on the roof of your mouth. All I know is Fantome hiver ruined all other saisons for me. I would love to find a saison that meets or exceeds Fantome, or is Fantome the standard as far as the style goes.
