Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy gold with crackling white head. Creamy body but with crisp carbonation. Lots of flavor: fruity, earthy, perfumey and mostly dry at the end. Great for summer, but hardly a lawnmower beer.

On draught at the Map Room in Chicago. Color is hazy gold with frothy white head. Aroma is sweet sugar, with floral, spice, and wheat accents. Taste is sweet and slightly tart, with crisp and light mouthfeel. Very refreshing, a great beer!

bottle. Pale light yellow color, big fizzy head that sticks around throughout. Light aromas of earthy sweetness with some spice and floral notes. Flavors start off the nose with a nice tart spiciness showing some black pepper. Mellow pale malt sweetness, some yeasty sharpness that melds with the spice notes. A bit heavy on the pepper notes, but not unpleasant. Light, crisp and sharp on the palate.

12 ounce bottle- poured out a cloudy yellow/gold with a massive snow white head that lasted the entire glass. Aroma was spices and vanilla. Taste was very refreshing, just a hint of citrus and yeast. A very thin bodied brew, this one would be great on a hot day.

Pint draft from the beer engine at Llywelyn’s Pub in Overland Park, Kansas. This is one of those beers that I have passed on so many times, for really no good reason whatsoever. I figured the opportunity to try this on a beer engine was as good of a reason as any. Pour is hazy golden, with a one inch white head. There was some really pretty settling in the glass, and also nice lacing. Pretty beer. Aroma of floral, citrus, wheat, yeast, coriander spiciness and a bit of barnyard funk. Taste is wheat up front, some honey sweetness in the middle, and the floral coriander citrus spiciness in the finish. Transitions in this one were nice. Flavors were nice, though I was expecting them to be a bit more vibrant. I will certainly give a bottle conditioned version of this a shot next time.

Bottle at Flatbread: Sweet funky aroma with an abundant white head and light golden color. Carbonation dissipates quickly in the mouth leaving a spicey earthy flavor. All in all a pleasant beer.

3/11/08 notes: From bottle at Brewery tasting. Poured a pilsener-like light golden color with a huge white head. Quite vibrant. Mouthfeel is quite thin with pearly carbonation. What came through to me were two flavors: coriander/spices and a champagne-like fruity sweetness. Overall, quite interesting, but not a beer I would go back to often because of the carbonation, light palate, and sweetness. Maybe it’s the style.

Slightly sweet yeasty aroma. Touch of candi sugar noticeable. Pours a clear light straw, with a huge fluffy white head. Nice crisp flavor, bit of tartness in the back of the mouth. Carbonation is very noticeable. Not bad, especially for the price.
