COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

750 to chalice. Pours nice golden yellow with big white head that laces throughout the pour. Predominate smell is cloves with some citrus, true to the style. Wonderful taste, best American farmhouse I have had--rivals Belgian.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2010 750 ml bottle. Pours with a rocky white head and hazy golden color. Head lasts the entirety of the glass leaving intermittent lacing. Aroma predominately of cloves with a little bit of grain. Good carbonation that keeps the beer light on the palate. Low bitterness, and tastes mostly of cloves and grain with a little banana. A little alcohol on the back end. Easy to drink, good all around beer.

a lot more hoppy than i have ever had in a saison. same floral and fruity notes from a traditional saison, light and crisp with almost a champagne-like bubbliness, if i had a proper glass to pour it into, i would have enjoyed this even more. in bottle @ max burger in west hartford, and i was given a water glass to pour it into, not the best, the carbonation that usually makes a saison that much more enjoyable became a nuisance. otherwise, the dryness and wonderful aftertaste still made it a wonderful beer, and the hop notes in the back of the tongue left an unusual flavoring that i found very interesting.

Pours an incredibly deep golden yellow with a big, frothy, white head that quickly recedes leaving quite a bit of lacing. Nose is banana, belgian yeast, and orange peel. Flavor is crisp and matches the nose with a bit of hops, some clove, and perhaps just a touch of alcohol. I’ve read debates about whether this trumps Saison Dupont, and I’m still backing the Belgian side of that dispute, but this is a very good farmhouse saison.

Corked Bomber. Appearance is light honey golden with an inch of fluffy white head. Excellent lacing around the glass that’s retained throughout and lots of carbonation trails from the yeast. Aroma is yeast, lemon, pears and champagne. Flavor begins with spicy yeast and grassy hops followed by cloves, white grapes, honey, banana and lemon. Mouthfeel is dry and bubbly with heavy carbonation. Finish is crisp and fruity with a mild clove aftertaste. Overall flavor is tart and refreshing with a very subtle ABV. Excellent interpretation of the style.

This is the real champagne of beers. Super fizzy, refreshing but complex and bold.
