COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

750ml bottle. Massive, fluffy, lasting white, clingy head. Clear, golden body. Pleasantly grainy aroma of sweet pils malt and peppery Belgian yeast. Touch of clove and coriander as well as vanilla and light alcohol. Flavor is of bready malt with prickly, spice yeast notes. Some pepper and light citrus. Light alcohol and a touch of honey. Light-medium body is slightly sticky and oily. Leaves a residue on the tongue. Moderate carbonation with no bitterness. Overall a good beer that feels a little under-attenuated for a Saison and the alcohol is a bit distracting.

25/03/2010 Bottle 12oz. From Half Time Beverage, Poughkeepsie. Pours a large creamy head. High carbonation. Aroma is spicy (from hops?), earthy, fruits a little bit. Medium body, biiter a first, then taste is earthy, tart. Not a great Saison, but it fit in the style.

On tap at some hidden bar where we had to pick up a phone in a hot dog eatery to access the secret entrance (name of the place escapes me). Pours a pale golden yellow with a pillowy white head. Aroma has plenty of yeast, candied apple, and clove with a touch of bubble gum. Flavor is candied apple and clove with some bubble gum sugary sweetness. Malty, yeasty finish. A touch dry at the end. Very well done. I imagine this is great in the summer.

I haven’t enjoyed a beer as much as this in a long time. A lovely fruity nose but not overpowering. Poured slightly cloudy and golden with a lively head. A full, round taste that I found heavy but lovely. This is a beer I can have a long and prosperous relationship with for sure. Soft carbonation and a nice bite to the finish all work together to produce one of the most entertaining and complex beers I have tried lately. Lighter than Three philosophers but I preferred it frankly. Definitely will recommend.

WOW - I can’t believe I am posting exactly the 1408th rating of this beer, and it ALSO happens to be my 822nd posted rating!! I love these big milestones, and they give me a big chubby. Clear thick gold pour with dense tall white head. Aromas of spicy phenols and very ripe sun-warm fruit, pear granny smith, white grape, and playful funk. Taste replays all this, with an added lemony element from some acidity and the hops. Has some nice sweetness and body. Cake dough. Damn this has only gotten BETTER, or else I’ve gotten less dumber. Try it not so cold and see how solid this is.
