Dmalone102 (216), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 5, 2008 I drank Hennepin because I am interested in brewing Saisons and this seemed like a classic example.
Appearance- Cloudy, straw color with a bit of a creamy head that lasted halfway into drinking the beer.
Aroma - I smelled lemons, and then malty/bready aromas.
Taste - Hennepin is tart, but not sour, which is appropriate for style. It’s a little fruity, but not overpowering. Surly (19), Michigan, USA Jun 5, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy light golden. Fizzy large head. Quite carbonated. Smells of light citrus and alcohol. Taste is clean, light with citrus. Very refreshing and would pair well with a seafood dish. CanIHave4Beers (838), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jun 3, 2008 Purchased at Beer Crazy in Urbandale. Pours a lightly hazy brilliant blonde color, with a big loose head that diminishes to a smaller slightly tighter head. Scents range from spicy hops to sweet bannana aromas. The taste is fantasically balanced with dry hop bitterness and some fruity esters. The palate is lightly sharp. A welcome surprise here in Iowa. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 2, 2008 This beer pours an attractive hazey golden coloured body with an overflowing head with lots of fruit aromas and bountiful wheat taste. a nice sweet malted mouthfeel- very well balanced. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jun 1, 2008 Bottle. 75cl. Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is light to moderate hoppy, citrus, moderate yeasty, fruity, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. (180408) Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA May 30, 2008 On tap. The pour was a crystal clear golden color with light effervescence. A compact white head formed and produced spots of lacing. The aroma was Belgian yeast, tart fruit and some light peppery spice. The flavor was Begian yeast and some spice. Light citrus. This was a crisp, clean and flavorful brew that reminded me a lot of a tripel. Light to medium in body and something I’d drink again. zappafan99 (462), Ascension Island May 30, 2008 Updated: Jun 25, 2008One thing no one else mentions..the label gives two abvs. The bottom of the label says 7.5 and the left front corner says 8.5. Rate beer says 7.7. I’ve written them and asked as so this years abv..if I get a response I’ll pass it on. Golden body, white snap, crackle and pop disappearing head. Nice carbonation. Not quite as sweet as some actual Belgian brews. A little more well rounded. Dry. Don’t smell as many esters. Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 30, 2008 hazy golen pour with billowing white head, small stringy lacing. Nose is very nice combination of mild citrus , grassy herbal hops, banana and clove, hint of vanilla and a bit of funk and peppery spice. Great mixture of flavors as well. Bitter hops and a touch of woody tannin, a hint of tart grape, banana and clove, and vanilla. Hops dominate the finish intially with a grassy astringency coupled with just a bit of sweetness. Body is full with very tingly carbonation. The hop flavor really lingers. This is both very flavorful and refreshing as well as well priced and widely avaliable.
