4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 brosen561 (70) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 14, 2010
From a 22 oz bottle. Pours perfectly clear golden with a huge white head (even with an easy pour) with wonderful lacing. Aroma is of a pine forest: lemon citrus, grassy, and earthy. Reminiscent of champagne. The beer is very soft, like a pilsner, except having a crisp apple tartness. Not very hoppy, but not overly sweet either. Finishes like a dry, but malty, champagne. I’d have this over champagne at new years anytime.

( 12oz bottle) pours cloudy pale whitish-yellow with head that lasts forever. Nose of cherries, Belgian yeast, wet wood, and spices. Taste is funky and sweet, lemon, bread, yeast and other fruits. Nice mild-dry finish that’s creamy and very well carbonated.

Bottle. Hazy golden body with a medium white head. Yeasty and fruity aroma. The flavour is yeasty, light hoppy and fruity with spicy notes. Quite nice but not as good as expected.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leafs93 (868) - Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 9, 2010
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2010 Pours hazy gold with lasting white lacey head. Acidic smell upon initial pour. Taste is somewhat sour, a touch of bitterness, fruitiness and spiciness. Well balanced all around. Alcohol and some sweetness warms up the end. This was my first experience with a Farmhouse Saison, great drink for a cold night. I find myself purchasing this beer on a regular basis, it is a great starter beer for those not so adventurous.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheJester (1230) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 6, 2010
355 mL bottle. Hazy gold with kajillions of tiny suspended particles. Also a large, fluffy, white head which regresses into a small, fluffy white head, and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is on the sweet side for a saison, almost wit-like. The flavour is not nearly as sweet. It’s very dry, with flavours of wheat, spice, and citrus. Some hop bitterness at the end. Hard to believe that this one is almost 8%, until the very end. You can’t taste the alcohol, but you can feel it. Nice carbonation. Very refreshing. Excellent beer.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2010 Refrigerated bottle. Pours a clear light golden color that has little tiny foaties with a big fluffy white head. Good carbonation, nice lacing, and nice body. The taste is floral spice hops with a hint of tartness. This beer is slightly warming and in general is pretty good.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 slayer02348 (103) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 3, 2010
Pours out a dark gold with a lingering white head. Aroma is pretty malty with a bit of skunk detected? Taste is sweet, and the alcohol is noticeable. A pretty unique beer but not Ommegang’s best.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 curly (2204) - Seattle (Newcastle), Washington, USA - JAN 2, 2010
Pours hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of lemon, clove, wheat and mild sweetness. Taste is crisp sweet malt and a slight hop citrus. Clean finish, good stuff.
