bottle, pours hazy bright yellow with a medium frothy white head. Sweet lemon aroma. Very sweet with tons of sugary pale malt, thin bitterness and little sour saison character. Not balanced well and all really missing the style. Drinkable, but not a saison to me.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 l1br4r14n (451) - Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA - OCT 15, 2009
Pours cloudy yellow with a pillowy white head. Aroma is a little funky, belgian yeast and citrus fruit. Flavor is fruitier and sweeter than the aroma, with some spice as well. Complex flavors, very nice.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 triguy84 (225) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 11, 2009
The appearance and aroma seemed to be close to dead on. However, the alcohol taste and body were too much. I don’t care for this beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 sebletitje (4011) - Enghien, BELGIUM - OCT 11, 2009
12oz bottle.
Pours golden clear, white head.
Aroma is reminiscent of Belgian yeast and saison style and just overwhelmed the scent upon opening the bottle, add some lemon and spices; clove.
Flavor, spices, yeasty, very typical Belgian style, some light citrus notes and hops, other fruits; apple to be noted. Finish is lightly bitter with some funk and yeast.

On tap over the summer at Sterling Tavern. I liked it a lot. Simple, goes down easy, yet it’s flavorful. Champagne is a good comparison, actually. A nice American example of a saison.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 nuplastikk (2445) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 7, 2009
750ml bottle aged the better part of two years. Hazy, just barely translucent orange-tan with a formidable head. The aroma certainly holds up, still has a lemony funk to it. Very soft on the palate, but still packs a punch. Not unlike a Tripel in some respects, but has more tangy barnyard thing going on. Pleasantly sweet yet also displays a touch of sourness. Very true to it’s Belgian style, this is a top notch complex beer.

I have been curious about Saisons and I heard this one was the best so what the hell? I poured this one into a Chimay chalice and watched the bubbles rise furiously from the etching in the bottom of the glass. teh head was aggressive and foamy white. The beer was a cloudy, yet somehow bright yellow color. The smell was yeasty. The taste was crispy, a little phenolic (but not much), maybe a hint of pepper hiding in there. The alcohol was completely masked which was nice. This beer would be perfect for a hot day.
