Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Pours a pale, hazy golden yellow color with a good-sized white head. Quite aromatic with scents of herbs, lemon, alcohol, and yeast. Flavor isat first slightly bitter of hops, also yeast, slight malt flavor, and is quite light. Finishes in the back of the mouth with a slight taste of the alcohol and a little spice. 1 pt. 9.4 oz. bottle.

Bottle @ Yespr tasting.
[thank you, Yespr]
Pours a lightly hazy pale yellow. Nice stream of small bubbles reach from the centre of my glass towards an incredibly great frothy white head that leaves great blothy lacings on my glass. Aroma is lightly sweet, malty and subdued, but present herbs. Mouthfeel is crisp and light, but never thin. Flavour is initially a bit sweet, bút the herbal and spicy notes hit me well into the aftertaste. Super drinkability, only flaw may be a bit too much sweetness.

Pours straw-yellow with a thick billowy head. The aroma is a nice blend of floral hops and earthy yeast. The taste is lightly sweet with orange and apple fruits, and slight hop bitterness. The 7.7% ABV is only barely noticeable.

750 mL bottle... pours a golden color with a thick white head that dissipates to a thin white head that stays throughout the beer. Aroma of apple pie as mentioned by other raters... definite notes of pie spices in the aroma. Dry fruity taste, with a decent dose of yeasty funk as expected in this style. Champagne like carbonation from the bottle conditioning. I don’t get the sweet taste that many have mentioned, more of a clove like dryness. A good beer to try to get the full array of flavors that you can get from just yeast and quality fermentation. A great saison.

What a great offering Ommegang has put together--do yourself a favor and give this one a shot. The pour is a hazy golden yellow, with noticeable carbonation and a medium/mediium-small head that dissolves very quickly. The aroma is very sweet--a bit of sweet grain and somewhat malty. There’s some sense of floral/fruity notes that resemble bananas with apple pie. The flavor is multi-layered, but incorporates all of the aspects of the aroma and adds a sweet herby taste along with more fruitiness, with ample carbonation to keep the sweetness light. The sweet/spice taste linger into the aftertaste and ths sweetness does leave a bit of a sticky mouthfeel. In the end, definitely something worth trying and something I’ll definitely keep on hand.

75 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow to orange with a lacing white head. Light caramel malt and spice nose. Flavour is light malty, wheaty, spiced and very mellow yeasty. Finish is mellow yeasty with a very wellbalanced spice note.

Sampled during Cellar’s Wine & Spirits beer tasting evening in St Paul, Minnesota. From 750 ml bomber pours a semi-hazy golden orange brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that has good retention and some light spotty lacing. Aroma of some fruity character (banana, pears and some apple), spiced herbs, a light yeast funk and a touch of wheat. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of carbonation, with flavors comparable to its aroma but with more multi-grain flavors with light yeast. Finish is semi-sweet, fruity with a dry clove aftertaste that quickly disappears.
