One of the utmost flavorful brews that has crossed my taste buds! This is the one brew that saison lovers must try at least once. Dry, crisp and ultimately refreshing. Ommegang is steadily climbing near the top of the list of my go-to breweries due to stellar brews as the Hennepin! Citrusy, spicy, sweet, mellow, robust ... complexity at its finest!

Bottle. Hazy golden pour with a lasting fluffy white head. Aroma is fruity and spicy with notes of banana, lemon, peppery yeast, apple and some light woodiness. Flavour pretty much mirrors the aroma with a little sweetness and hints of mineral and alcohol. Dry mouthfeel with high carbonation and a dry, spicy finish. This is a good example of the style, refreshing and well made.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, spices and some wheat. Flavour of sweet caramel, spices, wheat, bitter hops and some citrus. Medium bodied, thick mouthfeel and a long, bitter, spicy finish with loads of flavour. Tasty saison.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1617) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 20, 2011
Hells yea! I get the epic 1667th review of this beer - a life long dream come true. Once again, awful light in here and with the light switch more than a meter away there is no way that the light will improve. Seems to be a light gold, slightly hazed. Has a big puffy white head that lasts forever and slowly slid down the glass. My nostrils worked like usual by sending signals to my brain telling me that there is lemons, peaches and/or oranges, cookie dough, faint pepper, grass, that fake banana hard candy taste but in smell form and some fragrant plummy goodness. The aroma is soothing. The taste has tasty things that my tongue is finding via taste buds conveniently located in my mouth. Light alcohol isn’t the first thing I find but I typed it first. I’ve been digging the moderate bitterness throughout. Lemons, grass, mild pepper, notable yeast things, weak banana, dryness, faint sourness or is that a citrus tart punch and why cannot I figure that one out, some sweetness - just had a flashback on how underwhelming that Upright one I had at Bailey’s was. Grainy sweetnessssssss. Feels good as opposed to bad. Ran out of beer before I could give a detailed chemical breakdown. 7 hrs of sleep in 2 days, actually was forced to drink coffee today yet I managed no more than 10 minutes of work - I did watch a vid of Gaddafi’s corpse being stomped in the street today - that was something to remember. But even more memorable was all the black beans I ate for lunch and how my work chair actually begged for mercy. Nothing tells you that you have brutal relentless gas than when you leave your desk and upon your return you find a trail of 3 dozen crumpled up kleenex that leads to find your blindfolded chair in the middle of a busy intersection.

Hazy, light golden pour with white head, with definite champagne-like effervescence. Very wheaty smelling. Taste is wheaty and a little sour, but also somewhat bland. Buttery and bubbly. Enjoyable, but not a must have again.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 FishBizkit (78) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 13, 2011
Golden yellow with a rocky white head. Great Belgian yeast aroma profile, good spicy phenolics. Pleasant grainy malt on the palate.
