Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

I saw this staring me in the face at my local beer store and had to give a taste. It pours an amber/yellow partly cloudy. Moderate head. The aroma is spicy and fruity with hints of yeast. The taste does not let me down. So fruity and delicious. I love the spice mix. It’s like a piece of bread with cinnamon butter spread on it. I found the mouth feel to be pleasing as well. Not too thick. Seems right for a saison. I think this could easily be a session beer. The abv might get you but it would be worth downing a few bombers.

Tried at a beer tasting. Overall not impressed. Probably will give a second try, just did not see why the high rating.

Yeasty aroma with a slight bit of citrus zest. Hennepin has a clean golden color, with a thing white collar. The flavor is comprised of a bit of yeast, a little sweet with some honey like flavors. The beer has a crisp, tart finish, with a bit of sweetness in the ending.

Bottle at Pizzeria Uno - Poured a very pale color. A crisp hoppy hit right away. Easy drinking, could be a decent session beer. Reminds me of most basic Belgian Pale Ales.

Appearance: Pours a pastel yellow gold, with a small sudsy head. Plenty of light can get through, however the beer is a bit cloudy, and you can’t see objects through it. Aroma: Spicy fruity yeast and dry malt. Taste: At first, I get a fruity bouquet on the back of my tongue, followed by spices and spicy bitter hops in the finish. A little citrusy, and a tad yeasty. Mouthfeel: Crisp, dry for the most part, refreshing. Full bodied like a Belgian ale. Overall: A really good beer, a bit more fruit than I expected, but still something I would love to share with someone who likes farmhouse style beer.

750 either 7.5% or 8.8% alc/vol depending on where I look on the label, Cooperstown bottle from 2007 sometime enjoyed 7.23.09. The very instance I twisted the cage once around, the cork, cage and cap explosively shot-off and bounced off my ceiling and again with enough force to bounce off the floor, very dangerous, however the beer did not fizz over or even hint that it would. Champagne effervescence is right, shortly after the cork shot-off there was a waft of sweet grapey fermented fruits. Pours a slightly hazed clear glowing golden orange with a thinner dense white layer of froth. Aroma as indicated, fermented green grapes, other aged fruits, gently spicy, stinky like white wine. Super dry right off the bat, a good sign, fairly bitter at first, delicate tangy green grapes, very light flavors, a touch herbal but more floral, faint green apple, touch metallic, the only unpleasant note is the light bready/crust note that lingers. Very dry feeling mouthful, med/light bodied, large fizzy active bubbles. I’m guessing this was better a bit fresher... two years is probably too long. 7.4.7.4.14 [Rerate] draft at the Map Room. Pours a light clear yellow with a wispy white head. Sweet candy aroma, wheat, light hops. Off-dry flavor, great hoppy bitterness, lightly cheesed, touch of green banana, esters, really delicious on draft. 7.4.8.4.15

This is really just me getting my feet wet with the Saison style. A weird offering that will take some fine-tuning to appreciate. I’ll try again and re-rate for sure. Aroma was spiced and fruity. Deep yellow on the pour with minimal head. Relatively thick mouthfeel with an uneventful, smooth finish.
