COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Beer No. 57 – Ommegang Hennepin

I keep a bit of everything in the house because you never know when a summer craving will come a little early.

STYLE: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

ABV: 7.7%

LOOK: Less than yellow, refreshing. Ideal one-finger head that doesn’t resist a subtle sip.

NOSE: It won’t shine here. And that’s OK because that rather misses the point. Loafy and dry.

MOUTH: White pepper, nonfat butter, bitter salad greens. It’s not – memorable. On the front, too much rind and not enough zest. On the back, a quiet lagerish coat.

A wonderfully hoppy nose, yet much more subtle on the palate. Light and effervescent, yet stands up to spicy foods, providing a great complement. An instant favourite! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours pale amber with a frothy white head that stays a long time. Nose is reminiscent of cider and champagne. Taste is surprisingly bitter and pleasingly so. Full bodied brew with vigorous carbonation. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In bottle; not bad ... a little yeasty and citrusy with some subtle spice but very drinkable. Poured a hazy golden/yellow ... the 7.7% is well hidden Overall not a bad beer

Light straw pour. Burlap, sweet malt, and yeast on the nose. Subtle sweetness, good yeast flavor, and a little nutmeg. Average farmhouse beer.

Slight haze on this beautiful blonde saison topped with a generous thick white head. Some hay and chamomille dominates the aromas, with loads of esters joining the package. Prickly carbonated, estery, a bit of lemon, light bitterness, medium body, finishes just a bit off-dry with some banana in the finish. In betwen a belgian wit and a saison for me. Good stuff.
