| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2004 Hazy golden amber with a white fizzy head that forms great sheets of lacing on the sides of my chalice. The aroma is quite nice with lemon, spices, and lots of yeast. The flavor is also nice, more spices (cloves and cardamon) and plenty of citrus hops. The bitterness is contained by the nice balance of light malt. A fairly dry body and a lingering finish with some acidic bite. iowaherkeye (1895), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2006 12oz bottle from my Secret Santa no. 2, no date. Pours a hazy golden with a large off-white pillowy head. Aroma is of candy sugar, Belgian yeast, citrus and granny smith apples, pepper, spices, and a little funk. To me it had a little bit of a tripel smell to it. This fades quickly in the taste. Very fruity and yeasty and a fair amount of tartness. Not sweet at all. Dry finish. Alcohol is barely noticeable, and only if you’re looking for it in the back of the throat. Highly carbonated, fantastic lacing, light-medium bodied. Crisp and refreshing on a hot day like today. Very good beer. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2007 I was fairly underwhelmed with this saison. Granted I am not an expert on the style, but this one just did not impress me. The pour was fairly clear and unsubstantial compared to what I’m used to. The head was on par, thick, creamy, white, then leaves a sticky lace. The aroma was light, barely prominent, with a slight sourness. No spice or anything. The flavor was very light, crisp, spicy, some dryness, overall not very upfront. Very very easy to drink. The palate was a bit thin and needed some carbonation for mouth feel. As far as flavor and palatability goes this seems like it would be geared more towards the styles earlier requirements (refreshing field workers) while imparting the modern alcohol content. Bubblegum and lemon pepper nose. Bubblegum, alcohol, lemon, coriander and slight pepper in the taste. Palate is mouth-puckeringly dry, light, astringent, and not really very refreshing. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 14, 2002 Has all the fruit flavor I expected, but had a yeasty, almost wheat beer-like aftertaste. I believe my 750ml was a newborn. I’m going to put one away for later. Still a wonderful saison that we savored while gobbling gouda & summer sausage.
