Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Bottle: Pours to a hazy yellow/gold with a large white frothy head that is mostly lasting. Nice lacing around the glass. Aroma: yeast, bananas, citrus crisp, wood?, clove. Flavor: slight yeast that is not overpowering, alcohol taste needs to be better hidden, spicey, pepper. Lingering aftertaste that is like a bland, mild version of the beer itself. I expected this to be better.

Pours a clear yellow with a small head and thick lacing; the aroma is humus, belgian yeast, and lemon; the flavor follows, lemon and yeast and earth and a sourness. The mouthfeel is smooth and full with just a hint of a late alcohol burn and a long bitter finish. 7/3/7/4/14=3.5

Bottle 8/1/07

I just don’t understand the hype about this one. The aroma is OK if rather bready, with the aforementioned lemon there, but not any of the funky lovely complexity of my favorite imported saisons. The flavor is medicinal, lots of bandaid instead of funk, barely sour, simply not enough going on, albeit with a pleasant finish that garners some points. The mouthfeel on this is watery and very thin, no where near the body one might hope for at the promised 7.7%, and that watery texture carries over into the flavor which is just too subdued and watered down. I’m disappointed. I’d call this 6/3/7/3/12=3.1.

I’ll split the difference between the two ratings.

Bottle. Nice golden straw color with a big white head. Malt, wheat, citrus nose. Taste the same with some orange and yeasty flavors. Crisp and nice mouth feel.

Bomber. Poured a hazy, pale yellow color with a creamy white head that slowly diminished. The aroma was hoppy , producing lemon, fruit, and flowers. The flavor came with oranges, flowers, clove, and banana. Light bodied with a comfortable bitterness. Very enjoyable.

The aroma is a wild yeast thats a little off from what im used to and definietly not Belgian. The drink is sour and bitter and throw my tastebuds all out of wack. It seems as though a lot of malt and corn dominate the flavor and this taste much like a pale lager with extra grainy and bland taste of stale sourdough bread. Didnt enjoy this flavor very much at all. The beer did show off as a pure gold elixir and had a strong following of foam.

Draft. Golden with tightly-bubbled white head. Soft on the palate with a prickly fizziness. The aroma is spicy (clove and orainder) and the flavor is sweet and spicy — there’s vanilla and a hint of orange. The follow-through is a bit tart. Quite enjoyable.

Bottle. Orange color, hazy. Yeasty aroma with coriander. Nice white frothy head. Flavor is yeasty and spicy as well. Good finish, slight alcohol in aftertaste. Delicious.
