COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

I am shocked that I have not reviewed this to date. A wonderful saison style beer from Ommegang. Straw yellow with a slight bit of haze (from the bottle conditioning?) with a great aroma of yeast esters, spices (white pepper? gop?). The taste is spicy with esters and some sweetness for balance. High carbonation and nice frothy head. Overall a very enjoyable saison.

From a corked bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Beer pours a very cloudy straw colored yellow with about a fist of white, foamy head that shrinks to a half inch or so. Aromas are typical Belgian. Banana, clove, and bubblegum. I also pick up some faint baking spices as well as white pepper and lemon. Very nice. On to tasting. On first sip I get bread, lemon, and a bit of that Belgian barnyard funk. There are definitely bananas in there as well. The carbonation level is a bit on the higher side, it makes my mouth tingle. Overall this is a good beer, however not my favorite saison. I will buy again though.

Draft at Hopcat in Grand Rapids. Pours a hazy blonde color. Aroma and taste are orange and floral.

Bottle pours a light straw color. Aroma is bready, yeasty, perfume... something like a hefeweizen. Taste is crisp, yeasty esters, bright with some lemon rind bitterness on the end. Not particularly fond of this one.

Pours a hazy yellow with tons of carbonation. Smells sweet and crisp. Tastes tart and bready. Light palate with a dry finish. Light and sessionable.

Really drinkable Belgian saison. My wife loved it and if I wanted a guarantee For Belgian genre beer drinkers this is a sure-to-satisfy. Well-crafted. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I poured this from a 12 oz. bottle at home into a tulip glass. The beer was initially on the cold side. This seemed to suppress the aromatic properties. As it warmed, the phenolic properties of the beer came to the fore. It poured a fairly clear amber/orange with a nice frothy head. The bitterness is toward the light end of the spectrum with medium sweetness. The carbonation is not as lively as one finds in some other Saisons, but it has the dry finish one expects of a good Saison. Overall, this is a very solid Saison that I am growing fonder of over time.

Appearance is pale straw yellow and hazy, with a light creamy white foam cap. Aroma is spicy phenols, grass, coriander, lemon, and a hint of brett. Taste is light bready malt, pepper, coriander, orange peel, tangerine, and an acidic tartness. Mouthfeel is medium, somewhat full for a saison, with a slight creamy body and high carbonation. Finishes with a crisp dry bitterness and tartness. Spicy coriander and slight brett lingers.

Bright straw-colored pour with a white foam. Farmy aroma with orange notes. Smooth, with a tad of sourness. Finishes clean.

As far as saisons go, this one is as good as it gets. The coriander is a nice balance to the spiciness and bitterness inherent in saisons. I still prefer Ommegang’s ales, though.

Cloudy, straw color, effervescent, tall head. Light body, but intensely flavored, spritzy, not much heat for the alcohol content, fading body but fruity finish. Moderate bitterness, refreshing but not crisp, dry but this is in balance with the other characteristics. Yeasty, fruity, melon. Very refreshing and tasty drink, perfect with chinese food in a summer night, like this experience was. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
