This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Bottle poured into tulip. Golden champagne color with huge white head. Aroma is sour, peppery, and grassy. The taste is similar, though with a bright fruity flavor as well. Crisp but creamy feel. Good beer, though not my favorite.

Bottle from Utobeer, Borough Market, London. Pours a very pale yellow with medium sized white head. Aroma is floral, mildly hoppy, with a touch of yeast and citrus. Medium sweet with a light bitterness. Medium body, texture a little thin. Average carbonation, has a floral finish.

Pours a cloudy gold. Thick, frothy head and lacing. Lemon zest, orange peel, pine on the nose. Bitter and sweet flavors, yeast and malts alongside citrus and honey. A really enjoyable saison.

Citrus and yeast on the nose. Citrus and light fruity taste. Fairly heavy bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the upper part of the mouth to a weak moment. Mediocre beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Slightly hazy golden. Sparkly, almost like champagne. Aroma is ever so slightly funky but also herbal. A hint of bitter apples.

750 mL bottle. Pours a pale, straw yellow, fluffy white head with nice retention, some floaties. Nose is grassy, some funk, a tad skunky. Mouth is medium bodied, creamy, mild sweetness, lemon zest, bread dough, coriander, grassy, touch metallic (which I also got in the last Ommegang beer I had recently too...). I’ll give them a pass on the skunk, as it’s not their fault the douche-bags at the Jewel don’t understand storing anything about stocking beer other than Old Style and Busch (and it’s as much my fault in that regard for buying craft beer at the Jewel in the first place), but based solely on my previous experiences with other Ommegang beers, overall this one is just another example from of what I find to be an underwhelming brewery.

Clear straw yellow with mountainous head. Fresh bread, lemon, hay. Bright citrus with earthy, slightly bitter funk throughout. Very bubbly - champagne-like as they say. Clean, dry, bitter finish. Enjoyable

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a big white lasting head that leaves good lacing. Disappointingly weak aroma of clove, lemon and orange peel. Big flavors of coriander, lemon, clove and butterscotch, medium body, average carbo, medium bitter and light to medium sour and a very very long finish. Great complexity. Very nicely done.

Ommegang brews some of the best Belgian style beers in the US. They all have so much flavor and are so well brewed. This is probably my second favorite of theirs. Tons of banana, citrus and sweet aromas. Taste is more of that banana, lemon and spice. Theres a nice sweetness from the yeast. Overall a superb beer. So much flavor and complexity. Definitely try this if you havent. Cheers!
