Commercial Description:
This hoppy, farmhouse style ale has a champagne like effervescence with a crisp but light on the tongue finish. Similar to the Belgian Saison style , this beer serves well as an aperitif. Hennepin has a majestic golden hue. The style is called Grisette or farm house and is considered to be in the domain of the Belgian Saisons.

Re-rate - 5/28/2006 - I bought a bottle of the cave-aged Hennepin at Ommegang the other day. Pours a clear, light coppery color. Citrusy, yeasty aroma. Mild, smooth fizziness with very mellow, yet enjoyable blend of flavors. Light seasony finish. Old rating from 2004: I liked this label. busy and colorful, but in a good modern kinda way. Nice golden color with a big head that slowly dissapated. Spicy lemony flavor.

Bottle @ Yespr tasting.
[thank you, Yespr]
Pours a lightly hazy pale yellow. Nice stream of small bubbles reach from the centre of my glass towards an incredibly great frothy white head that leaves great blothy lacings on my glass. Aroma is lightly sweet, malty and subdued, but present herbs. Mouthfeel is crisp and light, but never thin. Flavour is initially a bit sweet, bút the herbal and spicy notes hit me well into the aftertaste. Super drinkability, only flaw may be a bit too much sweetness.

Pours a cloudy white-yellow. Fine lacing. Spicy and barnyard estery aromas. The taste is much the same with spices, lemon, wheat and tangy. Somewhat complex and smooth drinkability. The carbonation is crisp. I’m suprised by how good this is.

I really liked this one, more than I thought I would. Color is golden hazy. Aroma is sweet, citrusy. Flavor begins light and crisp, with some tartness and fruitiness. Light hop character, some bittersweetness. Flavor finishes incredibly clean and dry with a nice yeasty-bread taste. Very drinkable, very good.

Poured gold with big, white, frothy head. Sourish, spicy aroma. Malt, spice and hops on the tongue, with an almost winey finish. This seems much lower in alcohol than it is.

Poured from a 750ml caged and corked bottle and served in a tulip. This saison poured a clear golden color with a thick, fizzy head of off-white foam that lasted forever. A large amount of attractive, heavy lacing coated the entire inside of the glass. The aroma of the beer was made up of biscuit, mild orange peel, lemongrass, and peppery yeast esthers. The flavor included lemongrass, bread, spicy and earthy yeast esthers, peppery hops, and just a hint of alcohol. Crisp and refreshing. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and slightly dry with very active, champagne like carbonation. The combonation of a beautiful aroma and a subtle, complex flavor made this a great beer. Nicely done!

Pours cloudy golden color with huge white head. Citrusy aroma (lemon?). Mildly sweet flavor with hints of yeast and some banana and other fruits. Light to medium body with crisp carbonation make this an easy one to drink. It seems to going pretty quick. A very good saison.

A beautiful pale golden color with a thick frothy white head that starts at about 3 fingers but settles to 1. The aroma is sweet, fruity, and yeasty. Toffee, sour apple, pear, peach, coriander, mild alcohol iin the nose. The flavor is a smooth fruit, with apples, citrus, and possibly even some bitter cherry. The spicy yeast in this is outstanding. Very well carbonated, but not over the top. Gives it a nice creamy mouthfeel. The alcohol in this is noticeable, but just to pops in to say hello in the finish. A slight bitter left in the mouth.
