Hop House pays homage to the historic hop farm that stood on the brewery grounds over 100 years ago. Hop House combines the delicious aromas and flavors of a Belgian-style ale with generous hopping, including dry-hopping. A well-balanced, yet ample, hop character defines this fine pale ale, bringing Belgian-style beer lovers and hop-heads together to enjoy our Belgian-American love child.

Bottle. Golden, hazy, average and mostly lasting head. Moderate, malty - lightly wheaty and lightly sweetish - sweetish aroma, light caramel and floral fruitiness with light citrus, light - some citrus hoppyness, light yeast. Body is medium, malty - some wheat and lightly sweetish flavor, light caramel and floral fruitiness with light - some citrus hoppyness, Finish is average, malty - lightly heaty and lightly sweetish, light floral fruitiness, some citrus hoppyness, light yeast. Floral fruitiness and bitterness just do not work here together. Just a mongrel.

12oz bottle 4/13/15 (Binny’s Glen Ellyn)-38° in Shaker-Pours a hazy goldenish orange with a big white head. Aroma of hops, yeast, orange, and citrus. Taste of the same with more hops and Belgiany taste. This light to medium bodied brew is well balanced and is quite tasty.

Bottle from Antioch. Unclear orange pour without much head. Nose has some orange, some bread, some grain and light tang. Taste is bready grapefruit and orange, some tangy Belgian yeast. Light to medium bodied, little alcohol presence. Finishes bittersweet and fruity. Nice tasty effort. 13.7

It seems no one in their reviews can quite agree what the fruit is in the nose - I am not sure but it seems to be pears and/or apples. Also a little candy and yeasty twang. Full retained head, leaves a touch of soapy lacing. Yes hazy. Taste is right on, a bit of hop grit in the background and at the finish, but it plays a secondary and balancing role. Mouthfeel is playful, quite a tang of small bubble carbonation, The feel when rolling it around is thick and oily. This is a really well made beer.

Smelled really good; consisted of Belgian yeast, light citrus and other fruit as well as bread dough. Pours a hazy golden yellow. Didn’t taste quite as strong as the aromas were. Finishes bitter with a slight tartness from the yeast. Certainly a good beer.

12 oz. bottle at home from notes. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have Belgian yeast, pale malts, doughy bready, citrus, citrus peel that adds some bitterness, floral character, light spice, solid for what it is.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Hazy golden yellow pour with long lasting white foamy head. Welcome to Belgium! Aromas of toasted biscuit, yeast, Belgian sugar, some pear, but not much for hops. Lighter to medium body. Seemed a tad thin. Toasted bread, yeast, light spice all in the flavor with a mildly dry finish but not incredibly hopped up bitterness. Very nice but not quite as exciting as one from a Belgian Abbey.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Appearance is cloudy golden yellow. Aroma is spicy yeastiness, wheat husk, melon fruit. Taste is yeasty-spicy-wheaty flavors, balanced hop bitterness precedes a long, ultra-dry finish. Palate is crisp, medium-bodied, oily. Good hoppy Belgian pale.

I have to admit I have been holding this bottle for awhile, which isn’t a good idea with hop forward type beers, however, this beer is an exception. Beer pours cloudy to the point of occlusion, golden color with a prodigious egg white colored head that is totally retained. Big grassy aroma with earth and dough. Taste is bitter and in quite a good way. This is a delicious beer that I would be glad to experience again.
