3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Provisions Market. Finally getting around to trying this. Clear golden-orange pour with a white head. Really zesty lime and lemon aromas. Clean, bready malt, cracker, and a bit of grass clippings. Slight pear juice. Mild sweetness on the palate. Good bread and malt flavors all the way through. Pleasant lime zest hop character, a bit of grass, and a crisp bitterness. Hints of pear, flowers, and white pepper. Good.

On tap. For me, all malt and Belgian yeast - where are the hops? Super sweet.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2015-01-22. Hazy orange body, nice off-white/beige head. 3+ Aroma has a good amount of grassy hops, dry straw, modest fruit notes. Flavour is moderately bitter throughout, pleasant but slightly muddled citrus and fruit melange, modest resin and hop greenery as the glass goes on. Mild lingering bitterness in the finish. Very light yeast undertones. Average plus bodied palate, moderate carbonation. I suspect the hops are just a touch faded from waiting too long in my fridge but not too much. Enjoyable. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lightly-clouded yellow-orange with 3/4-inch off-white head, slow-to-moderate rate of decay. Aroma is lemon, pineapple, guava, green hay, beech wood forest, hint of light caramel in background. Body is watery,-to-oily with medium-light amount of soft carbonation, restrained burn. Flavor is bit of herbal cannabis, black pepper, unripe pineapple, hint of candy, moderate clean bitterness with pleasant amount of linger. An interesting Belgian - not as much discernible yeast as I would expect, some fruity notes in the aroma, and some interesting and specific descriptors in the flavor. Nice. Still, not up to par with Ommegang’s exceptional standards.

A bottle at Christmas. Straw-colored with a creamy white head and nice lacing. Good dose of hop flavor and that tang of a belgian yeast--I like both qualities but they don’t quite fully come together to me. Good not great.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle from Dutch’s. Pours a hazed gold, somewhat yellowed and dulled, with a huge, foamy off-white head that takes a while to settle and leaves a crater at the top. Really nice balance between the Belgian characteristics and abundant hops - big florals, citrus peel, a bit of soap, bread, straw, grass, and fruity esters. Light-medium bodied, with soft moderate carbonation and a bitter, bready mouthfeel that leaves lingering bitterness behind. Lovely.

Interesting hop character. Spicy, plenty of pepper and belgian yeast, but the bitterness hits you quick and lingers.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A really fantastic, bold beer. Hums with tropical fruity qualities in the nose, and a spicy yeast character. Aggressively hoppy, modestly bitter, in a similar vein to a Rayon Vert or Orval but since it’s not brett-fermented (or at least not designed to be as aggressively bretty as those beers) it’s its own thing. Really delicious.
