COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Collaboration with HBO for the Game of Thrones series.

Blonde ale with malty sweetness and a touch of fruity spiciness, Noble Hops aromas and notes of citrus. Suitable to serve to kings, or pretenders to the iron throne.

Pour slowly so as to not disturb the yeast sediment, but with enough vigor to create a luxurious head and release the rich bouquet.

Thin head of bright white bubbles with excellent carbonation. Fruity aroma with some lemons, pineapple, some fresh bread and cereal grains. Color is a slightly hazy gold. Just like the Lanisters. Flavor is lemon and straw with more cereal grains and some typical herbal belgian yeast. Light effervescence in the mouth along with a bit dryness late swallow. Lingering spicy hops and yeast. A pretty good golden belgian. Thanks Kyle!

Bottle from Spirits Manahawkin. Pours a mostly clear golden color with a big sort of white head. Aroma is of grains, oat, light spices, some fruit. Taste is clean, grainy notes, light citrus zest, some mild fruits, apple skin. A nice, clean beer, nothing wrong with it, but I wanted more for such a great show, this beer is just good.

Presentation: 750mL brown bottle with a "bottled on" date and a "best by" date printed on the neck. Served in an oversized wine glass. Appearance: It has a cloudy pale yellow color with a fluffy, white, 2 finger head that sticks around and leaves lots of lacing. Smell: It has a dominant spice aroma, courtesy of the grains of paradise. Itís a very peppery smell, but there is also a whiff of banana and some malt in the background. Taste: Itís quite spicy, just like the nose, with a pepper taste at the forefront. Thereís some citrus and alcohol notes as well. Mouthfeel: Itís highly carbonated, with a medium body. Itís smooth and creamy with a clean finish. Overall: A solid brew but nothing extraordinary. I donít get the Game of Thrones tie-in or the Iron Throne name, seeing this is a pretty tame drink. Itís something cool to have if youíre a fan of the books or the series, but itís not worth the price tag for everybody else. This is supposed to be the first in a series, so lets hope Ommegang can step it up and create something a bit more special and unique.

This actually surprised me. I hadnít read anything about this beer or known anybody who tried it and had it on a whim. Just the right amount of sweetness to this one, perfect carbonation. Very yeasty and some orange flavor. Will be picking up some more.

Pours a cloudy golden blonde with a profuse white head. Nose is interesting, kind of strange fruit skin acidity and peppery quality. Kind of muddled and singular. Not too crazy about this one. Peppery flavor, very peppery. Kind of spruce-y and a touch bitter. Not too impressed with this one. Medium light bodied with a peppery finish.

Bottle at Jamesís 4k/5k/10k tasting. Pours a lightly hazed gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Big fuzzy musk, smells like classic Ommegang, a mix of Hennepin and Witte. I like both of those, so this is going well so far. Medium bodied, musky and yeasty. Big lovely musk. Very easy drinking. Wish theyíd named this something else so that I could get it easily and drink it.

On tap at Hurricane in Vero Beach. Pours golden yellow with a medium off white head. Nose is laid back and a bit fruity. Taste is certainly that of a Belgium Ale, with hints of lemon peel. Very lively carbonation. I could see this being a great beer for the beach.
