COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Collaboration with HBO for the Game of Thrones series.

Blonde ale with malty sweetness and a touch of fruity spiciness, Noble Hops aromas and notes of citrus. Suitable to serve to kings, or pretenders to the iron throne.

Pour slowly so as to not disturb the yeast sediment, but with enough vigor to create a luxurious head and release the rich bouquet.

This was a fantastic brew from Ommegang. So many spices and robust citrus fruits among sweet Belgian yeast flavors. The finish reminded me of their Hennepin quite a bit. Loving this brewery more and more every time.

Location/Date:Bottle shared with Dave on August 31st, 2013.

Appearance: Pours a yellowish orangish opaque.
Aroma: Aroma of lemon, yeasty. faint spice.
Taste: Lemon, light yeast, faint bitter.
Palate:Medium light body.

Summary: Bottle might have been old, but a solid example of a golden/blond ale. Might taste better if Season 4 of GoT was on.

750 mL bottle from LCBO served cool in a tulip glass. Clear golden with a nice off-white foam. Sweet cereals, faint honey, a bit lemony, a little earthy coriander, light fruity esters, hints of minty herbals. Medium body, full creamy effervescence. Sweet, lightly fruity, faintly floral, honey, a little biscuit, light citrus, faint minty herbals; off-dry with a light and pleasant fruity finish. Light and friendly.

Bottle:   Orangish straw, thick and hazy, big frothy white head, nice lacing.   Big yeasty nose, bright breadiness, a little farmhouse like, soft floral aspects.   Smells like a nice big Belgian Blonde.   Big Belgian Blonde like start.   Lots of musty stray/hay, pale breadiness, soft floral aspects.   Seems a bit dry, wished it had some more sweetness.   Seems a bit dry overall.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Pale floral finish, soft breadiness, a bit bubbley.   A fairly decent Belgian Blonde type ale.

A solid blonde ale that I bought, much like others, because I love beer and nerdy TV shows. Not quite a devilish blonde, but pretty solid with a fruity, hoppy presence and bubbly feel. Worthy of the first episode of season three. Not quite red wedding potent.

1 OZ sample at Beer Revolution courtesy of @kgamiller. Clear golden pour, weak white foam that bubbles away slowly. Aroma is earthy malts, hints of caramel, and mild floral. Taste is a mild sweetness, honey, citrus, little bit of pastry shop malt, and just nice and light. Fruity, yeasty notes also. A delicious blonde worthy of the Iron Throne, for now. Canít wait for more in this series.

Bottled February of 2013.
Appearance: The body is hazy despite sitting upright in my fridge for a few hours, though before then it was laying sideways so that may be my fault. The head is tall and dense with excellent retention, slowly dissipating unevenly while creating a mess on the side of the glass.
Aroma: The first things that come to mind are sweet orange and an earthy, slightly leathery, presence with a spicy touch. Thereís sort of a homebrew extract brew malt aroma as well. Not very enticing.
Taste: Wheat and lemon are the first things of note with an earthy presence throughout and a touch of prickling spice on the finish along with orange peel. Pretty mellow and the finish is rather abrupt. Not really impressed.
Palate: Medium bodied with lots of carbonation.
Overall: I can only assume that either Iím getting sick, which I am not, people are overhyping the beer due to itís correlation with the wildly popular show, or this beer is too old. I know for a fact that there is no way that a 6.5% blonde ale will age 2 years like the bottle indicates, especially if itís not very good 6 months after release.

Pours a hazy golden straw color with a nice frothy white head that leaves tons of lace. Aroma of grass, crisp noble hops, citrus, sweet floral esters and some spice. Taste is bitter orange peel, spicy nobel hops and some sweet fruitiness on the finish. Very crisp and clean finish a d a nice refreshing blonde ale.
