Collaboration with HBO for the Game of Thrones series.

Blonde ale with malty sweetness and a touch of fruity spiciness, Noble Hops aromas and notes of citrus. Suitable to serve to kings, or pretenders to the iron throne.

Pour slowly so as to not disturb the yeast sediment, but with enough vigor to create a luxurious head and release the rich bouquet.

This was a decent belgian offering from Ommegang, but not really a standout among the style. Good, but a bit thin at times.

750 ml re released bottle purchased at giant eagle in westerville. Ommegang Game Of Thrones #1 - Iron Throne Ale is a hazy light golden brew with a full head of white bubbles. Nose is esters and belgian hops. Taste is front of the tongue sharpness, with good carbonation. Middle flavor is sweet with good belgian yeast, a bit sour and a bit funky. body is lively as i mentioned and medium. An interesting beer. very glad they rereleased it so i could complete my series.

Corked and caged 705mL. Nose sweet and candyish, golden with a little spice, pours gorgeous rich golden with ample carbonation and a very large, very frothy bright white head. Taste dry with a little rubber/yeast leftover, golden and sunny pils malt character fresh and a touch grainy; light phenolic pepper and sweetness, some citrus peel presumably from the yeast. Light very very smooth and rounding noble hops, remind me a bit of Poperings Hommelbier without quite the bite. Gentle honey and floral accents, very smooth and nice. Lightly chalky feel, very crisp, medium-full body. Straightforward but bright and clean, refreshes and delights. Beautiful! Could drink this daily, nicely digestible. [2015.11.17: 3.9]

Aroma is wheat/bread, spices and a hint of fruit. The flavor is wheat, citrus, malts, fruit, light Belgian yeast and a mildly hoppy//slightly tangy finish.

On tap. Served a hazy pale golden color with a thick head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, bit of malt sweetness, spice and hint of yeast. Taste of citrus, malt sweetness with light fruit and trace of spice. nice bitterness and a clean finish. Medium body, smooth with a rich feel to it. Enjoyable beer that goes down easy.

From the bottle it is clear highly carbonated and golden with a thick white head, aroma is citrus similar to a lemon peel maybe some cloves, the taste is a very good blonde ale nice malty notes, the mouthfeel is medium to thick with a finish that is more yeasty and bright

Pours a very hazy, pale golden yellow color with straw/banana hues and a frothy, pillowy white head. Great retention, only slowly settling into a lasting cap/ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Strong bready yeast character in the aroma with zesty spice, banana and cirus fruit notes. Some bubblegum character along with a strong banana and yeast presence. Peppery spice with hints of clove, coriander, lemon zest and grains of paradise. Somewhat inviting aroma but the yeast and banana are really strong, negatively affecting the aroma, in my opinion. On the fuller end of medium body with lots of bread/yeast and zesty spice flavor. Again, there’s a very strong banana bread flavor along with some bubblegum, clove, coriander, pepper and grains of paradise followed by zesty orange peel. The spice character is strong and his beer has some good zesty citrus fruit sweetness but the yeast and bubbllegum/banana flavors are too strong for my liking. Decent but a bit disappointing given the pedigree of the brewery and my excitement over the possibility of this series. Hopefully the other beers in the series turn out better.

I had missed this when it first came out. Bottle. Poured a hazy orange yellow, nice head. Aroma was crackery malts, faint citrus, and some peppery spice. Flavor matched. Very enjoyable Belgian style brew, almost like a wit without the wheat. Good.
