To underline the close link between the Charles Quint beers of the Haacht Brewery and the Ommegang of Brussel, a special brewage has been created for this occasion.

Golden blond colour, white head. Light bitter aroma with loads of sweaty socks and dusty attic. Light bitter, light sweet flavour, slightly perfumed. Lasting fresh, floral finish.
The aroma of this one is quite horrid, but flavour and palate are very OK. Rather strange in that aspect.
(From 33cL bottle @ local pub)

Bottle, poured @ de Gouden Leeuw St Lievens Houtem in a fitting glass. Malty, slightly perfumed flavor. Fairly dry with alcoholic notes. Hint of citrus. Decent, uncomplicated Duvel-clone.

Rather sweet as far alcohol goes, with a tad of a burn. Bit of a moldy malt flavour.

Flavour has quite a lot of maltose and a light sharpness. Finish is a bit sugary, sweet.

Bottle 33cl. Pours a beautiful clear golden colour with a strong head and great carbonation. Rather absent aroma, bit disappointing, some notes of hops there though.

33cl bottle.

Oddly shaped bottle @ home. Huge powerfull dense white head immediately after pouring only a little. The head quickly drops to an appropriate size and leaves a good lacing. Clear pale yellow / golden color. Smell is a bit stale...dust, chalk. Taste some malts and again stale, dust, metallic. Low carbo, low to medium body.

Bontus (634) - Flanders, BELGIUM - APR 15, 2012
Tasted @ Ghent. Pours very clear yellow to golden. Big white, dense head. Sweet fruity nose, lots of esters. Banana and ripte almost rotten fruit aroma. Flavor and palate more dull and average. Overall not really bad, but not what you’re going to look for further on.

Huge, very dense white head over very pale golden, well-carbonated beer. Very dry grainy nose, touch of (very) dry hops, and somehow alcoholaroma. Smelling just a bit stale, milky. Dry, alcoholic, with marked alcoholsweetness, slightly toaste flavour, tad floral. Heat, dryness and rather agressive MF. Seems quite highly attenuated. Somebody at Haacht found a loophole in American trademarking (congrats, but imagine somebody doing the same to them...), and had a couple of Duvels consequently. The rest is in the bottle.

33cl, Ommegang. From Bada Bing, Oostende. clear blond (to the white side) beer. Good white head. the nose is sweet and fruity. Taste is a bit dull and unbalanced. Alot of sweet citrus, flowery taste. Not a good beer and not worthy of the name Ommegang as it’s Moortgat "equivalent" from Cooperstown, NY is much nicer brew with more balance and flavour.
