Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Feb 15, 2008 Pours an effervescent hazy orange/gold with a medium-sized, white head that fizzles away shortly. The nose is estery pear and pineapple with mild barnyard funk and herbal hops. The flavour had less funk than suggested on the bottle, making up a minimal part of the flavour profile. The spicy, herbal and fruity flavour is paired nicely with a champaign-like effervescence and a bone-dry, yeasty finish. The body was medium/light with an airy, tingly mouthfeel. This is defintely a pleasant table beer that hides the booze incredibly well. I will purchase this agian for sure! MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Feb 14, 2008 Poured from a 750ml caged and corked bottle and served in a tulip. This saison poured a hazy golden with a decent sized head of off-white foam. The aroma of the beer was made up of mild lemony citrus, sweet malt, grass, and also some earthy yeast notes. The flavor consisted of a very mild amount of funk, dry, slightly bitter hops, and a touch of citrus acid. Pretty bland. The mouthfeel was light to medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. I was excited to try this. The commercial description made it sound like a very appealing saison. But...not much brett and a faint level of hops in the aroma left me feeling a bit let down. Hope to rate another bottle in about 6 months to see if some flavor has developed. Alldaydrinker (557), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Feb 14, 2008 Cellared for 6 months. Pours a cloudy particulated golden color with small foamy white head. Nose of pear, earthy hops and bretty yeast in the background. Initial taste is fruity with mainly pear and horseblanket. Mid palate displays bretty yeast funk that very tasty. Palate finishes with spicey bitter hops that coats the mouth nicely. Palate duration is awesome. Mild dry finish. Good head retention and some lacing of the glass. emerica56 (575), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Feb 14, 2008 Pours a cloudy orange with some yeast suspended in it. The aroma is very strong with lots of bready yeast funk also some nice fruits notes mainly pineapple and pear. The flavor has a strong initial hop bitterness followed by some fruit flavors. I really enjoy the spice that coats your mouth with that bready funky yeast that sits on your tounge. this is a really interesting beer it has every element a bitter initial taste with a smoth fruity finish and that yeast funk in between. JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Feb 13, 2008 Hazy yellow with a medium-sized egg-white head. Sour yeasty aroma, some slight cookie-dough and musty basement notes. Very lightly sour flavor, followed vanilla cookie maltiness and dry, semi-metallic and slightly alcoholic finish. Sweet straw and hay notes after immediate aftertaste. I honestly was expecting more sour Brett punch than this offering delivered. JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Feb 13, 2008 Pours hazy yellow with white, fluffy head. Nice lacing. Nose is very lemony and yeasty, slightly floral... like a lemony Orval. Flavor is fairly bitter, but the bitterness is rough, almost chemically clean. Slightly tart. Lacks some grainy, malty depth for a saison. An odd beer. It was nice but my expectations were higher. natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA Feb 12, 2008 Pours a straw/gold color with a fair foamy head. Smell of Brett, hops, and some spice. Taste of citrus, yeast, with a slight sourness to it. Pretty dang good. Boutip (2333), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Feb 11, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a light golden yellow color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light Brett with some very minor notes of horse blanket. Taste is also dominated by some light sour notes with some Brett notes and light horse blanket notes. Body is quite full with some good carbonation. What a big disappointment from the rave reviews I was reading 2 or 3 years ago. Brett character is really too subtle and hops presence was not as I was expecting it.
