Commercial Description:
Belgian pale & pilsner malts w/ Styrian Golding for bittering and Saaz for aroma. Ginger predominates the spicing. Fermented in primary with Ommegang's house yeast, followed by secondary with Brettanomyces bruxellensis. Dry-hopped in secondary w/ a blend of hops; Tettnang being the stand-out. The flavor profile is very herbal with an earthy undertone (very fitting for a Belgian-style farmhouse ale). The dry finish and pronounced hop aromas hide the 8% abv very well. Dangerously drinkable for its strength and character.

On tap @ the new Liar’s club in Alpine. A bright cloudy yellow pour with a big, rocky head. Nose was sweet and tangy. citrus, spice and banana dominated the aromas. A very drinkable Saison.

Hazy gold. Some sexy lace. Orchard fruit: white grape, salted plum. Touch of ginseng. Tastes like tobacco water and evaporates quickly. Thin mouthfeel.

Dull pale, cloudy. The aroma is somewhat vague, dull yeastiness with accents that are likely brett but could be mistaken for phenols. The body is thin, and the alcohol is very apparent. There’s some fruitiness, lots of yeast (to the point of astringency)...and the finish is both muddled and dry. I’m going to cellar my other bottle cause this isn’t really all that shit hot right now....it goes nowhere and does nothing.

(bottle) Pours cloudy light gold with a white head. The aroma was very light with just a bit of musty, funky smell. Taste was spicy, with a light yeasty flavor, and a hint of bubblegum, but most of the flavors were really subdued. Medium mouthfeel, pretty disappointing.

Yellow, with a big white head. Toasty and bready aroma. Nice bready and yeasty flavors at first, then a left turn into odd, weird funky flavors. Rather subtle, but definately odd. Frankly, I need to drink some more to really grasp what is going on. On tap at the Thirsty Monk, Asheville.

Bottle thanks to beerbill. Pours a cloudy gold/orange with a strong fluffy white head. The aroma is fruity with some funky Brett aspects. The taste is fairly light, not overpowering, but complex; light citrus, some earthy malts, spices, some Brettanomyces, and overall a dry yeasty finish. Really quite good. Underrated I think. Perhaps due to a lower ABV and thin body. But damn good.

Cloudy yellow-tangerine with a halo of white suds. Fermented orange nose. Straw-like flavors with essence of dry orange. Quite solventy, yet mimosa-like. Very dry ending with nice citrus vapors...Los of solvent flavors too. Very refined and classy. Me like.

Bottle purchased from The Red in Santa Cruz. Poured into a goblet. Golden in color with a white head that quickly reduces to a thin cap. Smells of unripe green grapes, apple, brett. Tastes of grape skins, bittering hops, a bit of mellow fruitiness, a metallic note, musty brett, a dash of spice. Pretty underwhelming profile here. Carbonation is fine and prickly, body is a shade thin of medium. A bit acrid in the finish. Not Ommegang’s best.
