kujo9 (1044), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Nov 12, 2007 On tap @ the Buckeye Beer Engine 8/25/07: Medium gold w/ a lasting white head... Hazy body! Fragrant, perfumey, like rose petals, some orange citrus, peppery yeast with a slightly band aid phenolic, with hints of ginger; light grainy and bready malt.. Subdued but complex esters. Lightly tart, peppery, and plasticky up front in the flavor. The finish is a bit bitter and dry and lasts into the aftertaste. Herbal and earthy in the aftertaste as well, and has a citrusy mid palate. Bready malt, light sugar flavor and also a white grape juice raisiny ester, but has a bitter edge.. Not quite as sharp when it warms, and it is herbal and earthy in the aftertaste w/ some peppery yeast lingering. Highly carbonated, smooth texture, lighter medium body, decently hidden alcohol. I’m not fond of the plasticky phenolic, but a very nice saison! NIcely spiced, and refreshing for a beer of this ABV.
bobaidan (305), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Aug 29, 2008 Pours golden with champagne like bubbles. Aroma is fruity with apple, citrus and bread. Mouthfeel is very lively with lots of carbonation. Flavor is drier than the nose would indicate. Citrus, spice and alcohol are the most up-fron with bread and some off, but not unpleasant flavors in the bakground. Another winner from Ommegang. tomthompson89 (1119), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 27, 2008 hazy golden beer big foamy white head nose is sweet of fruits like pear and apple, some odd notes such as horse blanket as well. flavor is a nice malt character, slightly sweet, citrus bready notes , and a good bitter dryness. dkachur (756), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 27, 2008 C&C 750 from Wine Warehouse. Highly effervescent orange pour with a medium head. Aroma of funk, caramel, grass, pear, green apple. Very up front tart taste with lemon, green apple, grass and funk. Very lively effervescent and full bodied. Gurst (312), Ann Arbor, Wisconsin, USA Aug 25, 2008 Super tasty yeasty explosion (like the label). Tart, with some apple, wheat, and toast flavors. Pepper and spice in the end. Cloves stand out, but can’t place my finger on anything else. Maybe lemon peel. biz82 (1313), austin, Texas, USA Aug 25, 2008 Hazy straw colored with a strange head with very defined bubbled that look like tiny fish eggs. There is something unusual about the surface of the bubbles in the head. Spicy CO2 aroma lightly funky with some citrus and bread. Mellow funky flavor, sharp and relatively dry. Nice tangy, slightly papery finish. I like this beer.
