COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

Carmel and a touch of butterscotch (pleasant) in aroma. Orange-brown liquid with modest tan head. Carmel repeats in flavor, fairly sweet. Just a slight spicey hint as well. Finishes fairly dry.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2011 Very intensely yeasty for an amber ale, which it gives a good spiciness to it. Great take on a Belgian Ale and very good all around.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2011 Had this at the CNY brewfest on Feb 5 2011. I don’t usually buy ommegang because of the price but I enjoyed this. It had the belgium yeast flavor but it was balanced with a fruity flavor. Unfortunately the details of the beer were lost over the event. UPDATE: I bought this one and enjoyed it even more. Spicy notes and the fruit flavors were of oranges. Have to give this one a better score.

(bottle, 9/8/10). Amber color, with light cloudiness. Medium off white head. Moderate sweet aroma, with light fruit esters. Flavor of the same. Avg duration. Dry finish. Slick texture. Soft-moderate carbonation. Fair lacing.

Mmmmm. Delicious malts with a nice spicy character. Aroma has fruit for sure with a bit of dough. Nice cloudy amber color. I drank this so fast and wanted more. That’s what I get for drinking stouts and porters for the last few months and ignoring my favorite style.
