3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Riotbeard (107) - Birmingham, USA - MAY 22, 2010
Appearance is a nice light and clear amber. Aroma is heavy apples grass, and maybe appricots. Flavor is damn heavy with apple and some minor citrus notes. The beer is thin on the palate and not really in a good way. Generally feels a bit watered down. I’ll finish the four pack, but I probably won’t buy it again.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jarow (237) - Massachusetts, USA - MAY 17, 2010
On tap. Pours a light golden amber. Aroma and taste are definitely belgian ale, but rather thin. There’s some nice spiciness there, but more subdued than usual and overall it was a bit watery.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Slipstream (1466) - USA - MAY 15, 2010
Champagne-corked bottle. A big foamer sits atop the nice amber-brass pour. Yeast, herbs, citrus, sweet fruit, and fresh bread in the aroma. Taste of grain, hop echoes, dashes of coconut and apple. Medium body and some esters. Mellow and balanced - a good brew.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 vikingguy (456) - Chaska, Minnesota, USA - MAY 7, 2010
Pours a brilliant orange-deep gold color. Aroma has fruit, cloves, hops, and malt. Taste is spicy and fruity. Notes of orange, clove, banana and floral hops. Solid malt backbone - caramel and wheat. Lively carbonation. This is excellent.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Teege (375) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 29, 2010
Draft at redlight redlight. pours a sunset gold with a billowy mother of pearl head and good lace. Really nice nose with strong notes of toffee and some hints of peaches and cream. An enticing semi-pungent yeast aroma dominates. the flavor is also very nice with an excellent semi-sweet hop/malt balances. delightfully hoppier and more bitter than one expects. this is one i haven’t had in a long time and was quite pleased once i tried on draft.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 CJfromPhilly (127) - Aston, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 24, 2010
Pours from the 12 oz. bottle a hazy orange color with a large head that quickly settles into a fairly thick collar. Lively & active carbonation. Aroma is of citrus peel (orange, lemon, some grapefruit) and spice (coriander?) 1st sip brings a sharp bite of lemon/orange peel bitterness with a note of spice as well. There is a slight sweetness. Mouthfeel is light but not watery, and lively from the carbonation. Overall, this is one very good beer! I plan to have plenty on hand during the hot summer days to come!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SSKD814 (854) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 21, 2010
A- Translucent rusty amber colored body that pours with a thin white head. Head quickly fades to a collar and little lacing is left behind in the glass. Few bubbles can be seen rising to the top of the glass. Yeasty cloudiness is thick and elusive.
S- Great nose. Big smell of spicy Belgian yeast upfront with a hint of sweet sugariness. Some cinnamon, fruit and other spices also detectable in the nose.
T- Subtle tart fruitiness upfront with a good yeast backbone. Finish has a nice amount of hop flavor along with a presence of spicy yeast. Sweet bready yeast lingers along with a citrus tartness.
P- High carbonation and very light body. Yeasty and creamy.
O- Rare Vos is a nice Belgian Ale. I will probably have this one again. I have enjoyed other offerings from Ommegang a lot more than this one so far but this is still a solid beer.
