Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

Draft, Rich amber pour, creamy head, spicey aroma. Light funk with sweet overtone. Nice Belgian with balanced flavors.

Pours a translucent copper with a profuse creamy tan head. The nose is very yeasty, Belgian all over, which I love. Sweet, funky, spicy, fruity all in the nose. The flavor is very yeasty, big Belgian flavor, fruity, raisin, earthy, has one tiny hole in the flavor. Very filling explosive carbonation. Full bubbles coat the mouth and expand to slide down the throat in a most exciting manner. A little underrated in my opinion.

The color was amber/yellow. The head was creamy, thin, and off-white. The aroma was belgian, sweet, and spicy. The flavor was sweet, spicy, belgian, and had a light earthyness. The palate was lively. The finish was warm.

Not a bad duubel as such, but still a tad run-of-the-mill really. Deserves another try though.

allegedly, this isnt a dubbel....but its a better dubbel then ommegang abbey ale which actually is classified as such! this has the ’sizzling’ mouthfeel that i find in the prior/pater by st. bernardus, as well as the deep red color echoed on its label. this is wonderful. dark fruits and raisins -- just what i expect from a solid dubbel. carbonation was so a-plenty that the cork came flying with zero coaxing besides removing the cage....then it took a flight across the living room completely on its own without ever having been disturbed. ommegang never seems to go wrong, this is further evidence.

Mild yeasty taste, nice first-contact on the tongue. Slighty prickly with and muffled acidity. A good ambre. And, since I don’t particulary care for amber beers (besides De Konick...), this one makes a very positive impression. Could be enjoyed in pints. Not overwhelming but certainly a positive experience.

75cl bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa). Pours an orange-honey-golden color with a thick creamy white-tan head that nicely laces the glass. Smells of sweet malt, hints of caramel and spice. Taste is very similar to Kwak, but not as good of an ale--Has notes of spice, malt, bread, yeast, and apple with a slight "tang."

Pours a nice transluscent amber with a nice fluffy head. The nose is candied fruit and a nice spiciness (clove, coriander). Lacks a little in the mouth. Same spice and fruits, nice light banana, but in a watered down version. The nose promised more. Finishes clean with a pleasant after taste.
