COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

(Bottle, Bishop’s Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm, 20 Jan 2010) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, malty nose with notes of apricots and orange peel. Fruity, slightly malty taste with apricots, orange, crystal malt and a touch of winegum and black-currant in a hoppy finish. Medium body, just a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty, possibly lacking some extra bite.

12 oz. bottle from Mac’s on West Peachtree. Looks like a nice Belgian. Nice thin head sitting on top of a LIGHT brown/dark orange translucent body. Dark fruits are popping out at my nose. Raisins, light grape, and a subtle fig aroma are all noticeable, and make a very pleasant aroma. There also seems to be a light honey aroma, along with the yeast to round it out. Nice nuanced aroma that bodes well for this brew. Very smooth texture. The flavor does not follow the aroma as nicely as I thought it would. The flavor is a bit short-lived. Flavors disappear quickly. There is a slight grape flavor, along with some yeast, but the flavors aren’t popping out at me much. A nice Belgian Ale, but I was expecting more in terms of flavor.

Bottle at Winking Lizard. Pours a hazy bronze color with a large, foamy, white head. The aroma is nothing special with some fuitiness and yeasty notes. You’d think the abundant carbonation and foamy head would yield a better nose, but that’s not the case. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor; it has the same fruit and yeast from the aroma with a complex spiciness (pepper, clove, ginger, and cinnamon) and a wheat flavor. It lacks the complete experience of a great beer but tastes very good.

Rather disappointed in this beer. The nose was just very weak, the flavor a little off and the palate a bit too fizzy. There were hints of some nice flavors and aromas, but nothing ever really developed enough. Still a nice beer, better than many. Not to worry Ommegang, still a big fan!

Amber with white head. Slightly sweet malt aroma, hint of fruit. Thinne palate than expected. Spicy hop flavor and malt provides some body. Like a richer pale ale

Poured a slightly hazy copper color with a nice white head and average lacing. The aroma was yeast and spice with a bit of citrus. The flavor was plenty of malts and yeast. A nice addition of spice and citrus make for a well balanced beer that doesn’t blow your doors off but is nice to have around. Thin body, clean finish.

12 oz bottle. This one pours a mean head and has a fruity nose. Taste is good - somewhat spicey and malty.
