COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

75cl bottle. cloudy orange, thick smooth creamy offwhite head. mild aroma, a little yeast, a little vanilla , a little fruityness, faint sweet maltiness, faint slighlty floral hops.flavor is mild, slightly bitter, fruity, is not decidedly dry, but still have a dry feeling to it. another reviewer wrote baking spices, i agree. strange brew, but nice if you are into slightly bitter stuff. Tasty esay-drinking well brewed stuff.

A moderately hazy amber pour with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is spicy- clove citrus and some yeasty dough are most evident. Flavor has lots more citrus with the quintessential Ommegang yeast strain dough. Medium body with an effervescent and crisp mouthfeel. Not bad at all.

Nice pour with a hazy, rusty, dark orange color with a very full, creamy, rocky, bone white head which is mostly lasting and leaves nice Belgian lace. Nose is very sweet with caramel, cotton candy, vanilla, subtle citrus and floral hops, light notes of peach and apple, doughy yeast, light black pepper, and some baking spices hiding. Flavor is similar but thankfully not as sweet; again vanilla and sweet caramels are prominent, dusty and doughy yeast, light golden raisins, gala apples, faint citric tartness, and some hop bitterness nearing the finish. Palate is nice with a moderately full body, lively carbonation, and a thick and round mouthfeel. Finishes still sweet but picking up a moderately light hop bitterness, light pepper, some dusty yeast, and some light tart citrus. This one seemed much bigger than just a simple Belgian with plenty of flavor and a nice balance in the flavor. Nothing exceptional about this one but very drinkable and likable. Ommegang does really nice stuff.

Bottle, 12oz, at Bishops Arms, Karlstad. An unclear, amber beer topped by a dense, finger-thick off-white to beige head. Citrus, spices, a nice peppery touch, fruity hops, some hints of alcohol and a hint of caramel in the aroma. The flavor starts with caramel sweetness, then some spices and alcohol chimes in, before fruityness and bitterness comes towards the end. The finish has some alcohol and malty sweetness, with a good spiced, bitterness. Full-bodied and quite dry. Nice. 090802

Bottle at Bishops Arms, Karlstad. Pours a clear orange color with a small white head. Aroma is spicy and fruity with caramel, candy and dried fruits. Flavour is sweet and malty with lots of toffee/caramel, candy, dried fruits, and spices. Body is medium, carbonation is rather soft, and the texture is smooth. It’s quite nice, but a bit too sweet for my liking. However, a more than OK interpretation of a belgian style-beer from Ommegang - though they have better ones.

Smells like a witbier. Nice honey-haze pour with a lacy head. Smells very very wheaty nose, throws you off. Sweet, malty taste on the lighter side of Belgian beers. Lingering aftertaste.
