Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

used a tall glass that poured a head that was 3" tall. that beer was a nice amber color. taste has a citrus notes, yeast with a slight hoppy bitterness. This has been a nice Belgian knock-off.

Had on tap at the winking lizard. Poured a cloudy light amber color, nice frothy head...Taste was sweet citrus, some cinnamon, and other spices, and of course sweet malts. I really liked this one!

Smells very strongly of spicy wheat. Pours a very murky dark golden amber color, lots of bubbles with a huge pillowy head. The cork actually shot out of the bottle when the cage was unwound. Scary. But delicious. Tastes very yeasty and thick with wheat. A delicious wheat beer with a very distinctive yeast taste.

Bottle poured a hazy copper with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of carmel, toffee, fruitiness and light yeast. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of straw, carmel, light citrus and a hint of spice with a crisp lightly sweet finish.

Rated while drinking: Pours a cloudy burnt orange with a nice off-white head. Spicy and fruity nose; very Belgian. Pretty aromatic. Lots of fruit up front, followed by spiciness at the end. Aftertaste is very pleasant! A bit carbonated, but very slick as it goes down. Another solid addition to Ommegang’s selection. Yummy.

Had this beer on 4/29/2007. Aroma is a spicy hop scent with back tones if skunk. Color is a deep golden with hints of amber. Carbonation is good with a thick, tight head. Taste is light, sweet and smooth. Starting with a medium body and foamy mouth feel. It goes down crisp leading into a finish that is a mild malt flavor with faint fruity hints of Belgian yeast, then light hop flavor and mild hop bitterness. This is a great Belgian brew, its light and drinkable, yet has that Belgian yeast flavor. The only down fall is that there is a skunk tone way in the back that can be detected after you drink it a bit and wif it as you sip it, but it is very faint.
