Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of light bread and caramel, citrusy hops and musty basement and doughy yeast with cherry, apricot and wood. Head is frothy white, mostly lasting with excellent thick lacing. Color is a hazy amber/orange. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic and finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium and dry, with a bit of stickiness and has a fizzy carbonation. The bold aromas make this a definite re-do beer.

A slightly cloudy pour with a huge foamy head. A spiced nose as expected. For me it was a hint of sweet on the front with a bit of a tart dry finish. Palate was to the style. Not a bad beer. I wouldn’t buy another one but I would drink another one.

so, my bday brew! Floral aroma, spices, outhouse and intense yeast in the aroma. Deep gold color, small but fair head, lacing. Great balance, very belgian, and infact, I think that the ommegang beers are have the most belgian character of all american belgians. This is no different. Nice yeasty and floral finish. very nice

Draft. This is a deep yet easy drinking brew, pours medium amber w/plenty of head. Lots of sweetness and flavor, but not too much to not ask for another.

Purchased @ Bev Mo Fashion Valley. Consumed August 2007. This had a soapy and spicy aroma that I thought was rather compared to other Ommegangs. Color is a normal dirty looking blonde with thick whip cream style head. The flavor is very tart and has light notes of sweetness and sourness but then will finish with an bland aftertaste. Some note worthy flavors found is strange strain of yeast with spice, lemon, bread and tea. Nothing special to go down on the list of good beers.

12 oz bottle purchased the Ommegang brewery. Poured a thin looking reddish/amber with a huge fizzy off white head. Aroma of yeast, vinegar, spoiled fruit and slight malt. Palate is light with an average amount of carbonation. Flavor is acidic with a quickly disipating aftertaste. Not the best effort from Ommegang.

Amber color with lots of head. Spicy smell and taste---with lots of yeast. No hops that I noticed.

Lovely ruddy amber color. Huge, fluffy beige head that slowly subsides, lacing all the way down the glass. The smell is mild citrus, apple, yeast and grain. Fruity and sweet, while tart at the same time. Finishes with light hop bitterness, belgian yeast spiciness, and a hint of alcohol. Last few sips seemed to lose their flavor as they warmed. Lots of carbonation. Tasty, but you could do better for the price.
