Flavor is slightly bitter up front with a sweet wheaty malt. Finish has a hint of apple and raspberry with a slight bready character. gquintero (1), Winter Park, Florida, USA does not count Apr 7, 2007 One of the best Belgian style American beers that I have ever tried, with a delicious citrus taste and appealing amber color. ghostmonkey (182), budd lake, New Jersey, USA Apr 5, 2007 750 ml bottle . . pours cloudy/brown with a white head . fizzy . . right when it came out of the bottle i smelled its aroma . . aroma is orange, malty, spice . . taste is orange peel, lemon, spicy, creamy, slightly bitter finish . . not too bad . . . MarkBarnes (264), Waterville, New York, USA Apr 1, 2007 Apr. 1, 2007; 750ml bottle bought for $5.99 at Chanatry’s Market, Utica NY. Cloudy, cidery orange appearance. Generous head & lacing. A bright, sweet, fruity aroma. Zesty, spicy, carbonated & slightly acidic citrus flavor. Has some of the essence of Three Philosophers without all the heft. Would make an excellent summer session beer, and will likely see some action in that capacity at home this year. Delightful. gwpom (246), Akron, New York, USA Apr 1, 2007 750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with an aura of yellow, white head and a full fruity aroma. Mouthfeel has as much body as the aroma, making it fuller than a whit or amber, more like an altbier. Not bad, but I think I like the regular Ommegang better. josuemucho (86), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 28, 2007 Didn’t know how this one would taste since no one I knew had tried this before. Pours a light brown. Aroma was of spices. Taste was yeast and spice. JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Mar 27, 2007 When you’re in the mood, there’s nothing like this style of beer. Rare Vos is one of the few American brews that comes close to the source goodies, with a nice bit of citrus and spice blended in the flavor, and a big bubbly feel as it goes down. Nicely crisp and refreshing.
