Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

A delicious Belgian ale. Pour was a dark hazy brown with a 3 finger puffy off white head. Aroma of yeast. Taste is very yeasty with a lot of spice. Citrus and fruit in the afteraste.

Pours a copper orange with a 1 finger off-white head. Aromas of citrus and yeast. Bitter throughout with light malt sweetness. Thin mouth feel. Dry finish.

750ml bottle. Smooth and consistently present head. Subtle hints of malty clove and banana sit behind a slightly spiced amber. Could certainly drink a session with these, but not something I’m going to actively seek out.

Cloudy amber appearance with an offwhite head. Flavor is slightly bitter up front with a sweet wheaty malt. Finish has a hint of apple and raspberry with a slight bready character.

One of the best Belgian style American beers that I have ever tried, with a delicious citrus taste and appealing amber color.

Apr. 1, 2007; 750ml bottle bought for $5.99 at Chanatry’s Market, Utica NY. Cloudy, cidery orange appearance. Generous head & lacing. A bright, sweet, fruity aroma. Zesty, spicy, carbonated & slightly acidic citrus flavor. Has some of the essence of Three Philosophers without all the heft. Would make an excellent summer session beer, and will likely see some action in that capacity at home this year. Delightful.
