Cloudy, cidery orange appearance. Generous head & lacing. A bright, sweet, fruity aroma. Zesty, spicy, carbonated & slightly acidic citrus flavor. Has some of the essence of Three Philosophers without all the heft. Would make an excellent summer session beer, and will likely see some action in that capacity at home this year. Delightful. gwpom (250), Akron, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 1, 2007 750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with an aura of yellow, white head and a full fruity aroma. Mouthfeel has as much body as the aroma, making it fuller than a whit or amber, more like an altbier. Not bad, but I think I like the regular Ommegang better. josuemucho (86), Orlando, Florida, USA

Rare Vos is one of the few American brews that comes close to the source goodies, with a nice bit of citrus and spice blended in the flavor, and a big bubbly feel as it goes down. Nicely crisp and refreshing. Trooper11 (464), Suffolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 26, 2007 Great pale amber color, and a foamy white head that leaves an incredible lacing. Strong sweet fruity aroma with pepper notes.Fruit is overpowering, inviting. Great body, nice peppery warmth, not overwelming, great fruity flavor, good good good. beermaniac (86), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2007 Aroma: Very spicy aroma, peppery with some fruit.
Appearance: Light beige head, huge upon pouring. Clear, amber with reddish hue. Attractive.
Flavor: Some bubblegum esters with a strong spicy backdrop. No hop flavor, but a firm malty backbone is present.
Palate: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Easy-quaffing beer, no frills, but solid nonetheless. jerohen (1612), Bussum, Netherlands

Funny Americans pronounce this beer way different than Dutch and Flemish people do, it took me quite some time before people understood what i wanted. But nevermind. Golden/orange coloured, small head. Fruity and refreshing, some bubblegum. Indeed a bit odd, as the name suggests (’rare’ means odd), but pretty nice. RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2007 This beer pours a dark amber color with a creamy, bubbly head. The foam really sticks to the glass as you drink. There was a little sediment floating around in the beer. Fruity, malty smell. It tasted very sweet with a great malty and tart finish. This is a good effort from Ommegang. I am going to have to stop in for a visit to the brewery the next time that I am up at the hall of fame.
