rmussman (905), California, USA Feb 28, 2007 Another good brew from Ommegang. Aroma is semisweet. Appearance is cloudy brown with a nice head. Mouthfeel is so smooth. Goes down effortlessly. Flavor is very malty with hardly any hops. A very nice brew. cathcacr (586), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 25, 2007 Impeccable appearance/head, slightly tart flavor at the outset, nice flavor but not strong. Moderate, somewhat watery palate, finishes dry. Doesn’t particularly stand out on the whole from the other Belgians I’ve had, hence the fittingly bland review. Appearance presents really well, though.
BeerBellyOSU (47), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 22, 2007 Nice amber color, big fluffy white head. Smells like a characteristic Belgian ale, that spicy farmhouse I typically hate. Taste is not as bad as I was anticipating, nice spicy taste, but not too much horse blanket (aka pee) to it. LooseCannon (914), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Feb 21, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours cloudy amber color with full foam white head. Aroma and taste of spice, yeasty and sweat malt with slight bitter after taste. Very drinkable beer. GaltScat (195), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 18, 2007 25-ounce bottle. Amber, somewhat cloudy, with a giant white head. Aroma was light, hard to detect, I wish it was stronger. Flavor was of hops, malt, yeast, pears, and apples. Somewhat carbonated, maybe too carbonated, the palate was crisp and mellow at the same time. The finish was a little bitter from the hops. tomthompson89 (1460), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 18, 2007 nice belgian style!!! very smooth, somewhat amber colour, lotsa quickly dissapearing head, fruity nose, nice malts with floral tart finish zootfinster (179), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 16, 2007 The more Brewery Ommegang beer’s I taste the more impressed I am with them. Rare Vos is classified as a Belgian Style Amber Ale. It pours a very cloudy yellow with a long lasting really big head. It exhibits a fruity somewhat hoppy aroma and the taste is much the same. While it is much lighter then most Belgian ales, it still has enough body to be very satisfying.
A really nice beer wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Feb 15, 2007 clear dark golden with a nice big fluffy off white head. aroma light toasted amber malt with a hint of orange and some yeast. bittersweet orange and toast flavor with hints of spicy black pepper. spicy bitter dry finish. medium body. lively carbonation. good beer. very subtle. it seems to be somewhat complex but i just cant quite
pick everything out at the moment. nice. i will try this again.
