Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

Pours a golden orange with a large wite head. Aroma is sweet, homey, lemon, juniper(?), burlap, fresh hay, and woody notes. Flavor is at first tart, somewhat sour, giving way to lemon, bananas, all-spice, cinnamon, a wheat note, and a long, dry grassy finish. Complex despite it’s more simple character. Very nice pairing for chicken marsala.

750ml: Moderately sweet aroma of spice, coriander, hops, and fruit. Poured an ugly light brown/orange/amber in color with a big, foamy, off-white head that shrank but lasted throughout. Good lacing. Hazy and sparkling. Tastes medium sweet to start, but gets more sour in the finish. Tastes of wood, yeast, allspice, and some hops. Medium body. Smooth texture turns sticky. Dry, yeasty finish is sour compared to the sweet body. Lively carbonation. Overall, easy-drinking, but an unimpressive flavor. I’m unlikely to have this one again.

Pours a light amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of citrus, lemon, banana, yeast, and a slight floral hop aroma. Flavor was not quite as good as the aroma but still not bad. Flavor starts off with the citrus and lemon that gives way to the yeast and banana flavors.

On tap @ McNulty’s Bier Market: Hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma, some spice, yeasty and with some sweet malts. Flavor, malty, some pale and bready malts, sweet, and a mild floral bitterness to it.

Amber with an off white head. Aroma is light fruit and spice. Flavor has some sweet malt with a fair amount of spiciness. Dry finish. A lighter belgian style ale, but pretty tasty.

Bomber: Sweet lemony nose which arises out of light tan poofy head that settles quickly but is kept alive by healthy carbonation. Tingly opening moderate body that somewhat creamy but not oevery carame-like. Overall medium mouthfeel lenght and a clean definite finish with little lingering of spice. A decent brew. Would be nice to have at a ballgame in May.

12 oz bottle. Murky dark orange with a thick cream colored head. Aroma of sweet fruit, similar to candy apple maybe, with pear, orange, and banana on top of bready, slightly spiced malts. Bittersweet cakey flavor with an ample spice character and not as fruity as the aroma. Dry, peppery and somewhat tart citric finish. Dusty white pepper aftertaste. Good, though personally I’d like it a little softer and less dry. Maybe better with age.

Good "Belgian" ale, with mildly Belgian flavors. Like a Chimay Red light. Nutty? Easy drinking, like a pale ale. Better than the average American six pack.
