Commercial Description:
Rare Vos is flemmish for "Sly Fox," and the name of one of Brussels’ great cafes. It has a sweetly fruity malt character and yeasty spiciness. A fine dose of yeast permits the beer to mature and mellow in the bottle.

A nice offering from Ommegang. Nothing too special here... seems very yeasty. A slight caramel tinge to a malty body. Lacking the fruit blend of tried Belgian. OK.

Pours a clear light copper color beneath a couple inches of light tan sudsy foam. Moderate lacing. Mild fruity malt aroma with some (residual?) traces of cork. Lighter body than I expected, but still a nice beer. Mild caramel with honeymalt, delicate fruit, a little dry and tart in the finish. This is a subtle yet tasty beer - very refreshing and easy to drink. Smooth with fairly gentle carbonation.

750 ml bottle. shared with old friends. Pours a cloudy orange amber with a medium sized white head. Fruity, malt, bready, spicy hops on the nose. Flavor is a bit creamy, spicey, fruity and yeasty. Very smooth beer, but not my favorite from Ommegang. A belgian blah.

750ml bottle, poured clear golden amber, lots of white bubbles that where always there to leave lacing on the glass, sweet fragrance, some hops, malt, faint bread, little fruit & peppery, faint alcohol in the nose, bubbly in the mouth, light malt taste with faint citrus, sour and sweet on the tongue, semi-dry finish.

1 pint bottle - I finally broke down and busted out the wallet to buy this beer. Then I almost dented my ceiling when I failed to properly finesse the cork out of the bottle. Oops. The pour was beautiful ... big poofy, cumulus white head, textbook lacing. Orange-amber body. Only a slight fruity aroma penetrated my olefactory senses, but the flavor is dynamite ... warming, yeast, orange rind, light spice. This is a quality Belgian-style ale that delivers all the prototypical characters without being overpowering. Worth the money. (#2642 - 1/7/07)

12oz bottle. Pours orange with a huge head. Good retention, rocky. Leaves fair lacing. Aroma is musty and spicy. Also bananas and hard candy.
Taste is spicey with sweet malts and clovey type yeast. Also some apples and apricots. Crisp and very good.

Not quite what I was expectingtbut still very good. The taste is not as heavy as other beligan. its got a light crispy feel and taste, almost tropical, neither malts nor hops are overpowering. but it still provide subible drinking

Bottle. Very Belgian – Belgian yeast smell, huge creamy eggshell head / a gusher, Belgian carbonation and spice. Yeasty scent, lots of carbonation, crisp. Hazy orange golden. Dry and light, a smooth pervasive fruitiness with well-integrated yeastiness and spiciness. Calm and gentle. Delicious dry, coating aftertaste. All about smoothness. Light body, sweet with hardly any bitterness. Aromatic strengths compensate for the lack of body. Nice, refreshing little quaffer, love to try this with some age!
