Taste is very sweet and malty right away, then surprisingly tangy at the end. Interesting but kind of off with the sweetness lingering with the tang. popkow (107), New York, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 17, 2009 Pours a setting sun amber orange with a small tan head. Not much lacing and smooth carbonation. Malty blend with a slight yeast taste is crafted well. Finishes with a touch of fruit. kimcgolf (828), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Poured from the bottle to a hazy orange with good carbonation and a thin head that dissipated quickly top slight lacing. Nose was a nice blend of citrus fruit, spices, bread dough and wheat. Mouth was tingly and slightly hoppy, and the taste picked up the lead of the nose. The only drawback was a slight watery finish, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment of this beer. Maddog (235), Kettering, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 12, 2009 Had on draft at the brewery in Cooperstown and bottle from Belmont Party Supply in Dayton, O. A good beginners beer for someone not accustomed to drinking Belgians. A good beer, but like many of Ommegang’s, not great. The Belgian Amber was sweet with light fruit and light honey and finished with a hint of yeast and spice. Merrill (74), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 12, 2009 Pours cloudy amber with a generous foamy head and strong lace, smells just slightly sweet with a bit of spice. A strong bitter with a hint of peach in the back and a whiff of herbal spiciness and perhaps some pepper. The texture is buttery with just a little edge in the carbonation. The finish remains complex with a spicy candy and a light bitterness throughout. This beer has a very pleasant mildness and presents bo cloying quality at all.
